Summit beats Deary on Senior Night
The Summit Patriots clinched a first round bye in the District tournament with a 68-42 win over Deary on Senior Night at Craigmont Thursday, Feb. 5.
Honored before the game were seniors Josh Lustig and Nathan Beckman.
Lustig then went out and scored 18 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead his team past the Mustangs.
Summit took a 16-12 lead by the end of the first quarter and stretched it to 30-20 by halftime.
They continued to build on their lead in the second half as they outscored Deary 19-10 in the third quarter to take a 49-30 lead into the fourth. They then outscored the Mustangs 19-12 in the final period.
Patrick Chmelik also had a double-double as he scored 12 points and had 17 rebounds.
Tyler Krogh was also in double figures on the scoring end with 17 points. Thomas Schwartz added 7 points while Beckman scored 5, Chris Osborne 4, Caleb Currier 3 and Dean Stubbers 2.
With the win Summit improves to 13-4 on the season and 10-1 in league play. Logos owns the tiebreaker and has 2 league losses so Summit would earn the league title with a win at Highland Wednesday, Feb. 11. If they lose to Highland they could fall into a first place tie with Logos and would receive the #2 seed into District.
Their District opener will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19.
The JV team lost to Deary 53-68.
