Girls Hallissey team takes second
Once again a girl’s team representing the Tri-Parish traveled to the Boise valley to play in the Hallissey tournament.   This year’s team consisted of 11 eighth graders.   Ellea Poxleitner, Madison Pecaravich, Madison Hinkelman, Emma Gehring, Sabrina Lusting,  Kate Lustig,  Jordyn Higgins, Kendra Duclos, Theresa Wemhoff, Kodie Tidwell, Hope McIntire.    A very special group of girls who should be very proud of themselves.   Also on the team this year,  7th graders Sydnee Bruegeman,   Anna Kaschmiter and 6th graders Kyleigh Duclos and Mattie Lustig.   A small but very fun and enthusiastic group who will be helping take on the Hallissey challenge next year.
This year’s team put in countless hours of practice mostly following volleyball practice on those nights.   I appreciate their desire to work so hard on two different sports at the same time.
Our tournament started at 4:30 on Friday night with a win against St Marks 8th grade.  We followed that up with a game against Summit Academy which we won.   Next up we played Saturday morning against St Peter and Paul from Grangeville.   A pretty solid team who managed to shoot a high percentage and beat us.    Falling into the loser’s bracket we played twice more on Saturday beating ST Marks 8th graders again and then knocking off St Joes 7th grade team.   That is a team to watch for next year.   This put us into the play in game at 9am on Sunday against the St. Joes 8th grade team.   Our team played tough and came out victorious to get into the championship game against St. Peter and Paul’s team.   At 12:30 we were back on the court participating in pregame national anthem, player introductions and trying to build up the energy for a great game.   Although we played very well, it just seemed that our shots struggled to go in while SPPS had a little better luck.   Coming in Second place in a tough tournament.   Playing 7 games in 44 hours was very amazing.  These girls battled and did everything they could to make it to the championship game and they should be very proud of their accomplishment.   Thank you girls for allowing me to be a part of your successful tournament.
God Bless.
