Ratcliff earns state medal
Dally Ratcliff earned a 5th place medal at state after finishing 6th the past two years. The State wrestling meet was held at Pocatello Feb. 27-28.
At 132 lbs. Ratciliff won by pin over Chase Peterson of Soda Springs in 3:38; lost 8-10 to Patrick Anderson of Ririe; won 14-9 over Frankie Zumwalt of Grangeville, won by pin over Kodi Burk of Valley in 4:31; lost 2-6 to Cody Svedin of Melba then won the 5th place match 8-5 over Samuel Belnap of West Jefferson.
At 106 lbs. Kellie Heitman picked up her first ever state win in 3 state appearances when she won by pin over Tucker Clark of Declo in 3:49.  She then lost by pin to #1 seed Joshua D’Orazio of Challis in 1:46.  She then won by pin again over Hayden Peterson of Malad in 2:47 before being eliminated in the consolation quarterfinals 1-5 by Dallin Atkinson of Malad.
It is believed that Heitman is the first female from District 1-2 to win a match at state.
At 160 lbs., Prairie’s third wrestler at state, Jace Perrin was eliminated in two matches. He lost by pin in 3:06 to Zach Anderson of Ririe, then lost by pin to Cody Harris of Aberdeen in 2:34.
