Lady Pirates win 3 of 4
The Prairie Lady Pirates are off to a 3-1 start this season having beaten Asotin and Clearwater Valley and splitting with Kellogg. Games at Kendrick and Nezperce were called off due to weather.
At Asotin
The Prairie Lady Pirates got off to a good start with sophomore pitcher Faith Uhlenkott tossing a 3-hit shutout at Asotin Tuesday, March 17 as the Lady Pirates won 10-0.
Uhlenkott had 5 strikeouts and just 1 walk in her varsity debut.
Catcher Hailey Danly had a big day at the plate with a single, double and homer and 5 RBI. The homer was a 2-run blast in the fifth inning.
Prairie wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as they put up 3 runs in the first and added another in the second. They had 2 runs each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to end the game after 6 innings on the 10-run mercy rule.
Prairie had 10 hits in the game as Uhlenkott and Kylie Tidwell added 2 singles each with Abbie Uhlenkott collecting a double and Hanna Ross and Sarah Seubert a single each.

The Lady Pirates’ league opener was a very one-sided game against Clearwater Valley as Uhlenkott tossed a 3-inning no-hit shutout as Prairie rolled to a 22-0 win at Kooskia Thursday, March 19.
Prairie jumped on C.V. for 11 runs in the first inning, added 3 more in the second and then pushed across 9 more in the third inning.
Prairie pounded out 16 hits with 10 C.V. errors contributing to the Pirates’ scoring.
Danly had another 3 hit game with a single, double and triple. Ross had 3 singles. Seubert had a double and triple. Tidwell and a single and a double. Kellie Heitman had a pair of singles and Holli Uhlorn, Samantha Remacle and Natasha Gimmeson each added a single.
Uhlenkott wound up with a near perfect game as an error provided C.V. with their only baserunner. She faced just 10 batters over 3 innings, 1 over the minimum.

Vs Kellogg at Lewiston
Uhlenkott tossed a 3-hitter in the first game against Kellogg as Prairie won 15-3 Friday, March 20 at Lewiston but was pounded in the second game in a combination of her getting tired and the Kellogg hitters getting her pitches timed as Kellogg won that game 10-21.
Game 1
Uhlenkott gave up a run on 1 hit in the first inning and then shut out Kellogg the next two innings.Faith Uhlenkott catches a short pop-up along the third base line.
Prairie meanwhile went down in order each of the first two innings then in the third Kellogg’s pitcher suddenly couldn’t find the strike zone as Prairie was able to score 5 runs on just 1 hit thanks to 6 walks and a hit batsman.
Natasha Gimmeson led off the inning with a walk and moved to third on wild pitches. Uhlenkott then dropped a flare in front of the centerfielder for an RBI single to tie the game. 
Kellie Heitman and Kylie Tidwell walked to load the bases. After an out, Hana Ross walked to force in Uhlenkott. Sarah Seubert walked to force in Heitman and Holli Uhlorn was hit by a pitch to force in Tidwell. After a second out, Gimmeson was walked to force in Ross to make it 5-1.
Kellogg got to Uhlenkott in the fourth inning for 2 runs on a walk, triple and double. Uhlenkott was then able to force a comebacker to get out of a bases loaded jam. She gave up just a walk over the final 2 innings.
In the bottom of the fourth Hailey Danly reached on a 1 out bloop single and scored on Ross’ triple to the centerfield fence.
The Kellogg pitcher had her second bad inning in the bottom of the sixth as Prairie plated 9 runs to end the game on the 10-run mercy rule.
Tidwell led off with a walk. Ross and Seubert walked to load the bases. Uhlorn singled to center to score Tidwell and Ross and Seubert also scored on an error on the play. Abbie Uhlenkott and Gimmeson walked to load the bases with Uhlorn scoring on Heitman’s bases loaded walk.
Tidwell knocked in a run on a fielder’s choice to bring up Danly with the bases still loaded.
Danly hadn’t had her best game at the plate to that point but hit a blast over the left fielder’s outstretched glove that turned into a grand slam homer that ended the game.
Prairie had just 5 hits in the game. Danly had a homer and single and 4 RBI. Uhlorn had a single and 3 RBI. Ross had a triple and 2 RBI and Faith Uhlenkott had a single and an RBI. Seubert, Gimmeson and Heitman each had an RBI.
Faith Uhlenkott gave up 3 hits, 4 walks, hit 3 batters and had 1 strikeout.

Game 2
Prairie was also the home team for the second game and Kellogg scored 2 runs in the first against Uhlenkott on 2 walks, a single and a double.

She hit a game-ending grand slam homer in the first game against Kellogg.Prairie took the lead in the bottom of the second as Remacle led off with a looper that turned into a double. Gimmeson beat out an infield single and stole second. Faith Uhlenkott scored both runners with a single up the middle. Heitman walk and Tidwell beat out a single to load the bases. Danly then tripled to right to scored 3 runs and later scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-2.
The lead didn’t last long though as Kellogg got to Uhlenkott for 10 runs on 8 hits in the top of the third.
They had a team cycle with 4 singles, 2 doubles, a triple and a home run in the inning as they took a 6-12 lead.
Prairie got back into the game with 2 runs in the third and 2 in the fourth to pull within 10-12.
It was a 2-out rally in the third with Tidwell and Danly each drawing 2 out walks. Ross reached on an error by the shortstop that allowed both runners to score.
In the fourth Gimmeson led off with a double and Faith Uhlenkott was hit by a pitch. Both runners scored on Tidwell’s ground ball through the wickets of the second baseman.
After posting a zero in the fourth inning, Kellogg got to Uhlenkott for 3 runs on 3 hits and a walk in the fifth with Leah Higgins coming on in relief to get the final out of the inning.
Prairie wasn’t able to score again but Kellogg added 6 more runs in the final 2 innings off of Higgins.
Prairie had 11 hits in the game with Danly having a triple and single and 3 RBI. Gimmeson had a double and single. Ross and Seubert each had 2 singles. Tidwell had a triple. Remacle had a double. Faith Uhlenkott had a single and 2 RBI.
Uhlenkott gave up 15 runs on 13 hits with 5 walks and 3 strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings. Higgins gave up 6 runs on 5 hits with 1 walk, 2 hit batsmen and 2 strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings.
Prairie is 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in league play.
