Liberty Academy visits Summit
Northwest Liberty Academy challenged students to pursue freedom. On Tuesday, March 17, the founders of Northwest Liberty Academy, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Hodge, presented to Summit Academy how the inalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are based upon the belief that all humans are created in the image and likeness of God. For the United States, the US Constitution is highest law of the land, designed to protect those natural rights. When elected officials enter office, they take the Oath of Office, swearing to uphold and to pass laws in accord with the US Constitution. Elizabeth Allan Hodge, former Idaho Senator of District 16B from 1984-1990, shared how she often had to confront compromising situations: “When legislators read a bill, they need to ask themselves, ‘Does this bill uphold the Constitution?’ If it doesn’t, throw it out.” Likewise, a genuine free-market can only thrive in an environment where politicians and businessmen respect the natural rights of others: “Natural law means you make the place better than when you left it,” said Alan Hodge.
