Stubbers is featured artist
Central Idaho Art Association (CIAA) 48th Annual Spring Show, at Grangeville’s Bicentennial Historical Museum, 305 N College, Grangeville, lower-level gallery features artwork of Linda Stubbers.
Mrs. Stubbers grew up on the Camas Prairie and lived in the small farming community of Greencreek for 54 years. She is married to Louis Stubbers and they have four children and eight grandchildren. Linda notes that “after a lifetime of drawing on every school paper, I did not care for the cookie-cutter art of grade school, and when a Greencreek friend invited me to an oil painting art class in Craigmont, I was hooked.
” Mrs. Stubbers has taken workshops and classes from both area artists such as Gloria Teats and Willetta Eller, as well as teachers from throughout the west such as Robert Thomas of Boise, Mike Smith of Arizona and Mike Beeman of Colorado. Her art education includes three Iconography classes, using egg tempera. The class instructor was Fr. Damian Higgins, Iconographer from California.
Mrs. Stubbers notes that her favorite medium is oil. She is presently working on watercolor and recently began using pastels. Mrs. Stubbers’ picture “High Mountain Lake” won People's Choice at the Kamiah BBQ Days Show and a recent watercolor of her garden roses took blue ribbon at the Idaho County Fair. Mrs. Stubbers is a member of the Central Idaho Art Association, the Salmon River Art Guild; she is President of the Prairie Art Association in Craigmont. Mrs. Stubbers says, “I have always loved Van Gogh and have been able to see many of his paintings. He persevered through tough times and his simple handling of light makes his pictures glow.” She loves the Impressionists. She says, “I do agree with Picasso, that every child is an artist, but too often we lose that joy.” CIAA Show hours are April 30 (9:00am – 5:00pm), May 1 (9:00am – 7pm), May 2 (10:00am - 4:00pm).
