Walk for Life set for May 9
Get ready to walk and benefit local moms, kids, and families on Saturday, May 9, at the annual Hope Center's Walk For Life!
The Walk begins with a free breakfast from 8:30 to 9:30 am (donations appreciated to cover food costs), followed by a 2-mile walk along Grangeville's Main Street and South Street beginning at 10:00 am. The post-Walk celebration with a special presentation and awards is from 10:55 to 11:25 am. The breakfast and Walk take place at the Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Center gym on B Street in Grangeville.
The Walk For Life is the Hope Center's major fundraiser, with walkers who participate bringing donations from friends and family. Prizes are awarded for the top two adult and youth fundraisers. For donation forms, visit the Hope Center web site, www.hopecentergrangeville.org/currenttrends.html, to download one.
The Hope Center provides free video lessons and mentoring on pregnancy, parenting, relationships, and life skills for young moms and dads, as well as classes for teens and grandparents. Through its "Earn While You Learn" program, participants who take lessons earn free diapers, formula, baby and toddler clothing, or gift certificates for other products in town. There are two facilities: on College Street in Grangeville next to the Crema Cafe, and on Hill Street in Kamiah, one block from Highway 12. The Grangeville Center also offers a free kids' program the first Saturday morning of each month, and is in the process of launching a teen program.
