Lady Pirates are 1-1 on the week
It was a rough start to the week for the Prairie Lady Pirates as they lost home games to Asotin and Culdesac. They then rallied back with a win over McCall-Donnelly and a league win at Troy.
Vs. Asotin
Coming off one of her best pitched games against Genesee, Faith Uhlenkott had one of her worst against Asotin.
She battled with her control until being lifted for Leah Higgins in the fourth inning.Sam Remacle had a big pinch-hit as Prairie tried to rally from 8 runs down against Asotin.
Asotin drew 5 free passes in the opening inning and added 3 hits to score 4 runs.
Prairie battled back in the bottom of the first with 3 runs of their own. Kylie Tidwell walked to start the inning and Hailey Danly followed with a single down the left field line. Hanna Ross then tripled to the gap in right center to score both runners and scored herself on Natasha Gimmeson’s double to the gap in left center to cut the lead to 3-4.
Uhlenkott pitched well the next two innings, giving up a run on a leadoff triple and sacrifice fly in the second and getting out of the third after two free passes to start the inning.
Prairie tied the scored with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. Abbie Uhlenkott drew a leadoff walk and Kellie Heitman followed with a single. Consecutive wild pitches to Tidwell led to a run by Abbie Uhlenkott. Tidwell then singled up the middle to score Heitman to tie the game.
Things came unraveled for Faith Uhlenkott in the fourth inning as she gave up 5 runs before being relieved. The inning started with a pair of singles then a costly error allowed both runners to score. A groundout allowed a third run to score. 2 walks loaded the bases. After a strikeout, another walk, on 4 pitches, scored another run. Higgins then came in a gave up a double down the third base line that scored 2 more runs. 2 errors allowed 3 more runs to score before Higgins got out of the inning with a popup to second.
Higgins settled down after that and allowed just 1 more run.
Prairie scored 2 in the bottom of the fourth as Abbie Uhlenkott doubled to lead off the inning and Heitman singled. Tidwell doubled both runners home but tried to stretch her double to a triple and was out at third.
Prairie trailed 7-15 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. Tidwell was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and Danly grounded out to short. Tidwell wound up scoring as the first baseman tried to get her at third for a double play and the ball got away. Ross then reached on an error. After a second out, Gimmeson was hit by a pitch and Sam Remacle doubled in Ross. Holli Uhlorn singled up the middle to score both Gimmeson and Remacle. Abbie Uhlenkott’s fly ball to left was dropped for an error allowing Uhlorn to score and cut the lead to 12-15.
After Higgins put up a zero in the top of the fifth Prairie tried to make a last ditch rally. Danly led off the inning with a double to left and scored on Sarah Seubert’s 1 out single. The rally died there as the next two batters were put out, the last on a line shot by Remacle to the shortstop.
Prairie had 15 hits in the game with Danly having a double and 2 singles. Heitman had 3 singles. Tidwell had a double and a single and 3 RBI. Uhlorn had a pair of singles and 2 RBI. Ross had a triple and 2 RBI. Gimmeson and Remacle each had an RBI double. Abbie Uhlenkott had a double and Seubert had an RBI single.
Faith Uhlenkott gave up 12 runs on 7 hits with 8 walks, 2 hit batters and 2 strikeouts. Higgins gave up 3 runs on 3 hits with 1 walk, and 1 hit batter.

Vs. Culdesac
For the first time since the 2006 state championship game the Prairie Lady Pirates lost to a Culdesac softball team as the Wolves prevailed 3-11 at Cottonwood Thursday, April 23.
Culdesac, which scored just 3 runs in a 7-3 loss to Prairie earlier, got to Faith Uhlenkott for 11 runs on 15 hits this time around.
Culdesac led 0-7 before Prairie was able to score against Culdesac ace KaitLynn Connerley.
Prairie was able to score 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth but Culdesac came back with 1 in the sixth and 3 in the seventh.
Prairie added just 1 more run in the bottom of the 7th.
Prairie had 8 hits in the game with Danly and Gimmeson each having a double and a single. Tidwell had 2 singles while Ross and Heitman added a single each.

Vs. McCall-Donnelly
The Lady Pirates broke a rare 3-game losing streak with a wild 20-19 win over a McCall-Donnelly team that had beaten them 2-9 earlier in the season.
Faith Uhlenkott pitched the whole game against McCall and gave up 19 hits. Prairie survived 6 errors.
McCall scored a run in the first but Prairie answered with 5 runs each in the first and second innings to take a 10-1 lead.
McCall started to figure out Uhlenkott in the third as the scored 6 to cut the lead to 10-7 but Prairie answered with 3 in their half to make it 13-7.
McCall scored 4 in each of the next two innings but Prairie scored 3 in each inning to hold onto a 19-15 lead after 5 innings.
McCall got within 1 with a 3 run sixth but Prairie added a big run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 20-18 lead into the seventh. 
They held McCall to a single run in the seventh as they held on to win the game.
Prairie had 11 hits in the game led by Danly who had 5 of those hits including 3 doubles. Abbie Uhlenkott had a double and a single. Gimmeson had a double and Seubert, Faith Uhlenkott and Heitman each added a single. Prairie took advantage of walks to help score their 20 runs.

At Troy
Faith Uhlenkott was back on her pitching game when Prairie played at Troy Monday, April 26, as she tossed a 2-hit shutout as Prairie won 16-0 in five innings.
Prairie jumped on Troy’s Brittany Hosley for 5 runs in the first inning and scored in each of the five innings. They had single runs in the second and third innings, another big inning  with 6 runs in the fourth and 3 more runs in the fifth,
Prairie had 11 hits in the game with Abbie Uhlenkott collecting 3 singles and 5 RBI. Danly had a homer and a double while Uhlorn had a double and a single. Tidwell, Ross, Faith Uhlenkott and Heitman each added a single.
Prairie is now 12-5 overall and 5-2 in league play.
They have a doubleheader with Potlatch on Thursday at Lewiston that could determine who takes the second seed into the district tournament.
