St. Gertrude's Celebrates Year of Consecrated Life
In 2013, Pope Francis declared that a Year of Consecrated Life (YCL) be celebrated throughout the world. YCL began on the First Sunday of Advent, November 30, 2014. It will close on the World Day of Consecrated Life, February 2, 2016.
From the Vision Vocation Guide: "Consecrated life—in its diverse expressions around the globe—is a gift to the church and world. Its prayer lifts the entire church. Likewise, good works and the pursuit of justice shape society to more closely resemble the reign of God. A life of chastity, poverty, and obedience gives powerful witness to faith in Jesus without a word being uttered."
In celebration of the Year of Consecrated Life, sisters from the Monastery of St. Gertrude will share about their history of 106 years on the Camas Prairie and their 400-year-old founding community in Sarnen, Switzerland. The evening will feature a social and music from the sisters, the Von Gertrude Ensemble. All are welcome! Thursday, May 28, at 7:15 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 625 Lake Street, Grangeville.

The St. Gertrude's religious community has been in Cottonwood for 106 years.
