More Julius Holthaus book photos
The photos below were provided by Clyde Cremer and are included in his book The Life and Times of a World War I Soldier: The Julius Holthaus Story.
An article from Cremer about his book appeared in the May 21, 2015 edition of the Chronicle. The book can be ordered from iUniverse.com, Amazon.com or from Barnes & Noble.
We still have several more photos that we will try to get into future Chronicles.

Rock shelters built into the side of a hill just west of La Hazaree, France. Julius and the First and Second Battalions slept here during the day of September 25, 1918.

The nest of 3, 5-round clips of .30 caliber ammunition found where Pvt. Julius Holthaus was killed. A few fired, German 8mm cartridges found near the Tirpitz trench are thrown next to them for comparison.

Loaded US Cartridges, fired German and French Cartridges, French rifle projectiles, a shrapnel fuse and buckle from a pack.
All of these items were found near the spot where Julius died in combat.

Steam locomotive and passenger cars belonging to the Camas Prairie Railroad-Grangeville, Idaho. This would be similar to the train the young men from the Prairie boarded in Grangeville as they left for training camps.

A postcard sent by Julius Holthaus to his father.
