Cottonwood City Council meets
The Cottonwood City Council had a short meeting Monday, July 13.
Mayor Denis Duman read a letter from American Tower, which purchased the cell tower from Verizon. They are seeking  to get the lease transferred and have made some proposals. The council decided to table the matter so they could look into those proposals.
Pat Holthaus reported they had a 7% loss of water with almost 5 million gallons pumped and about 4.5 million sold.
He also reported the line has been redone near the Elementary School and Seubert Excavators has started work on their line relocation.
Ron Grant had nothing to report from the sewer department.
Jack Duman reported they had to postpone the East Street project for a year. This will give them more time to get some chipsealing done on other city streets as well as some patching and sealcoating. They expect to get about 8 to 10 streets done with work to start July 28 or 29.
Shelli Schumacher reported she was to meet with architect Rhonda Wemhoff on Tuesday to finalize plans for the hall project.
Grant reported the Fire Department had 3 calls, 1 ambulance assist and 2 rural calls. He also reported they are working on a grant for new extrication tools. They will need approximately $6600 in matching funds but he thinks they will be able to come up with that.
He also reminded everyone there is a burning ban for Cottonwood which includes campfires, burn barrels, fireworks, etc.
A budget workshop was set for Tuesday, July 28 at 7 p.m. The budget hearing is set for Monday, August 24, also at 7 p.m.
Holthaus reminded everyone about the Hospital’s 50th anniversary celebration Wednesday, July 15 at the Fairgrounds.
The meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m. The next regular meeting will be Monday, August 10 at 7 p.m.
