School staff donates to hospital
Each year the Prairie Elementary Staff and employees fund a service project for the community.
In years past we have helped out our community by paying water bills for those in need. We have also helped the hospice program with gifts for the families, which sometimes included loads of wood.
This year we decided to support St. Mary’s Hospital with a book and blanket set for each newborn and their families. As teachers and parents, we know how important it is to start reading to our children at an early age. Newborns and toddlers respond well to a story being read to them with voice inflection and enthusiasm. Books that have repetitive words or phrases are not only fun, but also help the child’s recall and become ready to jump in and “read” with mom or dad. The best gift we can give our children is the gift of reading. Reading is the foundation to a solid education. If you can read you can do or be anything your heart desires. Happy reading and snuggling to our newborns and their parents from Prairie Elementary School!
