The Summit Academy Patriots pulled out a close win over Logos as they won 54-52 at Craigmont Saturday, Jan. 9.
Patrick Chmelik broke a 52-all tie in the final seconds of the game to give the Patriots the win.
Chmelik wound up with a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds while Chris Osborne also had a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Logosí leading scorer, Brennon Costello tied the game with a 3-pointer with 30 seconds left. After Summit had taken the lead, Costello was fouled on a 3-point try with 1.5 seconds left and missed all 3 free throws plus an extra chance given to him on a Summit lane violation.
Free throws turned out to be a huge difference in the game as Summit was 15 for 25 at the line while Logos was only 4 of 10.
Summit got off to a strong start against the Knights as they led 17-8 at the end of the first quarter but let Logos chip away at the lead. It was 29-23 at the half and 33-32 after 3 quarters.
