Summit wins two league games
The Summit Academy Patriots stayed unbeaten in league play with wins over Nezperce and Kendrick this past week.
On Tuesday, Jan. 19 they traveled to Nezperce and came away with a 67-26 win. Two days later, they hosted Kendrick in a battle between the top two teams in the league and came away with a 57-50 win at the Prairie Auxiliary Gym in Cottonwood.
At Nezperce
It took a bit for the Patriot express to get rolling against the last place Indians as Nezperce scored first and trailed just 8-6 midway through the quarter.Dean Stubbers shoots at Nezperce.
An inbounds play that saw Dean Stubbers pass to Tyler Krogh for an open 3-pointer seemed to unlocked the floodgates though as that kicked off a 24-0 run for the Patriots.
Summit scored the final 9 points of the first quarter for a 17-6 lead  then scored the first 15 of the second quarter as they led 32-6 with 5:00 left in the half.
Summit led 45-14 at the half as the Patriots hit 10 of 20 shots in the second quarter including 4 of 7 from 3-point range.
Tyler Krogh had two of those 3-pointers and had 20 points by halftime. He added just 4 more in the third quarter before leaving the game for good with 6 minutes to go in the third quarter. At that point he had singlehandedly outscored Nezperce 24-18.
Nezperce scored 4 straight points after Krogh left the game but Summit then finished the third quarter with a 10-0 run as Caleb Currier scored 5 points and Jake Stubbers and Justin Wassmuth each added a basket and Chris Osborne a free throw.
The fourth quarter was played with a running clock and Osborne scored all 6 of Summit’s fourth quarter points as they cruised to a 41 point win.
Tyler Krogh ended with 24 points to lead all scorers. Osborne and Currier added 9 points each with Patrick Chmelik and Jake Stubbers scoring 7 each. Dylan Krogh scored 5, Dean Stubbers 4 and Justin Wassmuth 2.
Dean Stubbers pulled down 14 rebounds and Osborne 9 to lead Summit to a 41-23 advantage on the boards.
Dylan Krogh had 4 steals and Tyler Krogh had 3. Dean Stubbers had 5 assists.
Summit was 28 for 56 from the field, 50%, and 6 for 14 at the line, 43%. Nezperce was 12 for 40 from the field, 30%, and 2 for 8 at the line, 25%.
In a 2-quarter JV game Summit rolled to a 42-9 win.
Dylan Krogh scored 12 first quarter points before leaving the game after getting scratched on the arm.
Summit jumped out to a 20-0 lead and led 22-4 at the quarter break.
With Krogh out of the game, Currier and Jake Stubbers picked up the scoring slack with 10 and 6 points respectively in the second quarter as Summit outscored Nezperce 20-5.
Krogh was the leading scorer with 12 with Currier scoring 10, Stubbers 8, Shaun Spencer and Justin Wassmuth 4 each and Luke Wassmuth 2.
Stubbers had 7 rebounds to lead Summit to a 20-14 advantage.
Currier had 7 steals and Stubbers had 3 assists.
Summit was 13 for 28 from the field, 46%, and 13 for 21 at the line, 62%. Nezperce was 3 for 18 from the field, 11%, and 3 for 4 at the line, 75%.

Vs. Kendrick
In a battle between the two teams at the top of the standings in Division 2 of the Pine League, Summit cemented their hold on first place with a second half rally for a 7-point win.
Kendrick came out strong and took a 10-18 lead by the end of the first quarter. Summit was able to cut the deficit to just 1 at the half 23-24.
After 3 quarters the score was tied at 33-33.
Summit finally took the lead in the fourth, outscoring the Tigers 24-17 in the final frame.
Chmelik and Osborne each posted a double-double to help the Patriots win. Chmelik led the team in scoring with 19 points and added 14 rebounds. Osborne scored 11 and led the team in boards with 17.
Tyler Krogh als scored in double figures with 15 points which included a 5 for 5 performance at the free throw line.
Dylan Krogh added 5 points with Dean Stubbers scoring 4 and Jake Stubbers 3.
Summit is now 10-2 on the season and 7-0 in league play.
