Vs. Deary
In their first game in 16 days Summit started slowly against Deary but about midway through the first quarter they found their stride and turned a 4-3 lead into a 16-3 lead by the end of the quarter.Seniors Caleb Currier and Dean Stubbers accepted the league championship trophy prior to the Deary game.
The 12-0 run started with a pair of offensive rebounds by Chris Osborne. On the first he fed Patrick Chmelik for a lay-up and on the second he passed to Tyler Krogh for a short jumper. Tyler then found his brother Dylan Krogh open for a high-arcing 3-pointer and Dylan returned the favor on a pretty give and go with Tyler scoring. Tyler Krogh ended the run with a 3-pointer to put Summit up by 13.
Deary turned the tables to start the second quarter as Summit was held scoreless for nearly 4 minutes as the Mustangs got back within 4 points at 16-12. Tyler Krogh finally broke through with a basket on a feed from Dean Stubbers and Chmelik then scored on a feed from Osborne to push the lead back to 8 at 20-12.
Deary scored but Tyler Krogh answered with an open 3-pointer on a post feed from Chmelik and Osborne was on the receiving end of a pass from Jake Stubbers for a basket to make it 25-14.
Deary got the last 2 points of the half to make it 25-16 at the break.
Summit opened the third quarter with an 8-0 run to take control of the game. Osborne scored a putback. A steal by Dylan Korgh led to a lay-up by Tyler Krogh. A steal by Jake Stubbers led to another transition lay-up by Tyler Krogh to make it 31-16 and led to a timeout by Deary.
A minute later Dean Stubbers was fouled trying to put back an offensive rebound and made both free throws to make it 33-16.
Deary outscored Summit 3-8 the rest of the quarter to pull within 12 at 36-24.
A 3-pointer to open the fourth quarter by Deary cut the lead to 9 but Summit answered with a basket by Dean Stubbers and a free throw by Caleb Currier. Deary never got any closer than 10 points the rest of the way.
Tyler Krogh wound up with 21 points to lead the Patriots in scoring and added 2 steals and 2 assists.
Osborne scored 10 points with 17 rebounds and 4 assists despite battling foul trouble. Chmelik scored 6 with 11 rebounds with 3 steals and 4 assists before leaving the game after rolling his ankle.
Dean Stubbers scored 6 and added 10 rebounds and 2 steals.
Jake Stubbers and Dylan Krogh each scored 3 points and had 2 steals each. Jake also added 2 assists. Currier scored 1
Summit outrebounded Deary 54-39, easy to believe with 3 players in double figures on the boards.
The Patriots were 19 for 65 from the field, 29%, and 9 for 27 at the line, 33%. Deary was 12 for 46 from the field, 26%, and 9 for 19 at the line, 47%.

Vs. Kendrick
The Patriots picked a bad time to have an off shooting night.
Patrick Chmelik goes after a rebound in the Kendrick game. They got off to a solid start although they fell behind early at 4-7, they put together a 10-0 run to take a 14-7 lead with Tyler Krogh scoring 6 and Osborne and Chmelik 2 each.
Kendrick scored the final 4 points of the opening quarter to make it 14-11.
Tyler Krogh opened the second quarter scoring when he stole the ball and went for a lay-up. He added a basket and 2 free throws as Summit still led 20-16 with 5:20 left in the half. Summit got outscored 3-12 the rest of the half as Kendrick took a 23-28 halftime lead.
Summit went scoreless in the third until the 4:18 mark and they were down by 9 before Tyler Krogh scored at that point. Dylan Krogh then stole the ball and fed the ball ahead to his brother Tyler for another basket that got the Patriots within 5 at 27-32.
Kendrick answered with a 0-6 run to push the lead to 11. Summit got back within 8 when Justin Wassmuth, fresh off the bench, sank a 23 footer at the buzzer for 3 points.
From the 2:21 mark of the first quarter until Wassmuth’s buzzer beater, Tyler Krogh would be the only Patriot to score. In that time he was 5 for 16 from the field and 3 for 4 at the line while the rest of the team was 0 for 21 from the field and 0 for 8 at the line.
In the fourth quarter Kendrick had an answer for each time Summit would cut into the lead. The Tigers went 11 for 16 at the line and were 3 for 6 from the field in the quarter which answered Summit’s three 3-pointers, two by Krogh and 1 by Wassmuth, and the two 2-point baskets, one each from Chmelik and Osborne.
Tyler Krogh wound up with 25 points to lead all scorers. He added 8 rebounds and 5 steals. Osborne scored 7 with 10 rebounds. Chmelik scored 6 with 16 rebounds and 3 steals but was bothered by a tender ankle after spraining it the night before.
Wassmuth scored 6 as he was 2 for 3 from 3-point range.
Summit outrebounded Kendrick 46-39. Jake Stubbers pulled down 7 boards to give Summit 4 players with at least 7 rebounds.

Vs. Logos
Summit left Thursday’s shooting woes behind when they faced Logos in the second place game.Tyler Krogh drives toward the hoop in the Logos game. Logos threw a box and 1 at the Patriots which held Tyler below his scoring average but opened things up for other players.
Logos came out in a box and one defense with a defender assigned to shadow Tyler Krogh wherever he went. That led to some strange looking sets in the second half.
Logos took a 4-6 lead early but Summit then took control. Chmelik scored on a feed from Osborne. Tyler Krogh then found Osborne open underneath for a basket and Osborne then passed to Dean Stubbers for a basket to put Summit up 10-6.
Logos scored to cut the lead to 2 then Tyler Krogh shook his defender long enough to sink a 3-pointer. 30 seconds later Dylan Krogh sank a 3 pointer and Summit was up 16-8.
Logos scored the final 4 points of the quarter to cut the lead to 16-12.
They didn’t carry that momentum into the second quarter though as Summit scored the first 13 points with 5 different players scoring to build a 29-12 lead. Chmelik and Dean Stubbers each scored a basket. Dylan Krogh sank a pair of free throws. Tyler Krosh scored a driving lay-p. Dylan Krogh sank a 3-pointer and Jake Stubbers scored before Logos finally put 2 points on the board in the quarter. Summit then finished the half with an 11-1 run as they outscored Logos 24-3 in the quarter for a 25 point halftime lead, 40-15.
With their third game in as many nights, Summit slowed the pace down considerably in the third quarter, looking to run clock as opposed to scoring.
As mentioned earlier, the box and 1 led to some strange sets. Tyler Krogh would set up in the corner at the time line and have his defender right there leading to a 4 on 4 set on offense. A couple of times Tyler stayed in the backcourt and actually had 2 defenders hanging back there with him.
Logos outscored Summit 2-8 to cut the lead to 19 but a lay-up by Dylan Krogh and a 3-point play by Osborne put the Patriots back on top by 24. They led 47-25 heading into the fourth quarter.
Summit continued to run clock in the fourth quarter and Logos struggled to score as they went just 1 for 14 from the field and added 4 free throws. Summit meanwhile went 5 for 7 from the field as they led by as many as 29 at 58-29. Logos hit their only basket of the final quarter with 2 seconds left to make the final margin 26 points.
Dylan Krogh wound up as Summit’s leading scorer with 17 points, 13 of them in the first half. Osborne had a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Tyler Krogh still managed to score 11 against a defense geared to stop him.Chmelik and Dean Stubbers scored 6 each with Jake Stubbers scoring 4 and Justin Wassmuth 1.
Summit dominated on the boards 52-24 as Chmelik also hit double figures on the boards with 11 and Tyler Krogh added 8.
Tyler Krogh had 2 steals and 4 assists while Osborne had 2 steals and 3 assists.
Summit was 27 for 48 from the field, 56%, and 4 for 6 at the line, 67%. Logos was 12 for 61 from the field, 20%, and 5 for 7 at the line, 71%.
Summit takes a 17-4 record into the state tournament.
