Redneck Review
No. 48  3/21/2016
The primaries march on. Rubio is gone. Kasich hangs on still, with no chance to win a primary count, but is sponsored by the Republican establishment in their hopes that the Trump machine will implode and he will fail to win a needed majority by convention time.
Over on the democratic side, Sanders is losing steam, and the consensus is that Hillary will win the democratic nomination, unless of course the unspeakable happens, that she finds herself indicted by the justice department for violations of national security involving her private email account.
This last possibility is not apt to happen, considering all of the other controversies which have come out of the Obama administration, and which have simply disappeared as they have been "swept under the rug!" Think I exaggerate? Simply explore the internet with a search engine like Google for "Clinton controversies."
There you will find among others: Benghazi, Private emails, Whitewater, Filegate, and others. And do not forget that the same justice department has failed to truly investigate the "Fast and Furious" program which saw government approved shipments of guns go to Mexico and end up in the possession of gangs there, guns which were used in at least one case to kill an American citizen and government employee.
And a careful study of her campaign positions tells anyone that she shares much of Bernie Sanders convictions that bigger and better financed government is the answer to national problems. Internet searches reveal the following: The "OnTheissues.org" scale, rates her "as more liberal than Barack Obama... and barely more moderate than Bernie Sanders."
And speaking of coverups! Recent news tells us that for years the IRS has been giving large amounts of cash tax returns to ILLEGAL ALIENS, who are required to file income tax returns even though they have no social security numbers. They instead are given an ITIN number which allows them to file, and receive large amounts of money for the "dependent" children claimed! Investigators claim that over #4 billion was paid out last year, one as large as $29,000 to an illegal who claimed 22 children dependents, only one of which was living with him, the other 21 still in Mexico! Attempts to notify the IRS have been ignored!
And can you believe the controversy surrounding Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, the two men leading the primary count today? Disenchanted voters have pushed these two to the top in their opinions, yet both are so hated by the Republican establishment, that they are trying everything in their power to derail their efforts. Some like myself will say, "Get a clue you in the Republican leadership! These elections are supposed to be the people's choice, not yours!"
Which is a reminder that the issue of minimum wage laws has been in the news a lot the past several weeks. Again, this is an issue which pits the so-called expertise of those who push the laws from the top against the common sense of those who make the decisions. More about this at a later date, but for now think about a situation involving a small farmer or business man who employs workers and maybe is about to hire another. I submit, that he can only do so if convinced that the person employed is worth more than the amount he will be paid! Simply put, if the potential employer is not worth what you can pay him, he will not be hired! So... those not worth the minimum wage required... will remain unemployed!!!

To the Editor
Once again Idaho Rivers United and Friends of the Clearwater demonstrate their disdain for the people of Idaho County. While we struggle to create jobs, fund education, and meet our basic needs they are filing a lawsuit to stop the Johnson Bar Salvage and Restoration Project.
They want us to continue to believe the pack of lies they throw out in suing the federal agencies on behalf of the American People.  They do not even spell out half-truths, they just out right lie with self-pontificating innuendo and assertions that a restoration project will be detrimental to the wild and scenic beauty of the Clearwater River. Nothing could be further from the truth.
The realities are that quickly salvaging burned tree reduces insect outbreak, stabilizes landscapes, and speeds up forest recovery. It limits soil erosion and provides for cleaner water, better air quality and reduces the risk of wildfire. Recovering the value of burnt tree offsets restoration cost and helps our local economies. This project alone will support nearly 900 local jobs.
Salvaging trees and assisting Mother Nature in restoring the beauty that we all enjoy in Idaho County is the first step in insuring the future for the next generations to come.
Cheryl Probert and her Forest Service staff have worked tirelessly to work in harmony with nature and these organizations think they know better than the forest service experts. Thank you Cheryl and thank you to your employees.
Thank you,
Jim Chmelik
Idaho County Commissioner
Chairman
