Idaho County Democratic caucus held
The Idaho County Democratic caucus was held at the Grangeville High School on Tuesday, March 22.
Doors opened at 5:00 PM to electors, observers and media.  At promptly 6:00 PM, the doors were shut and after all of the participants were registered, the caucus began.   The ICDP Chairman, Bill Farmer of Cottonwood introduced Michelle Perdue, Grangeville, Caucus Captain.  After welcoming all in attendance, Perdue handed the caucus over to Linwood Laughy of Kooskia to conduct the caucus process that ended with electing delegates to the Idaho State Democratic Convention to represent Idaho County.
142 people from Pollock to Glenwood participated in the caucus, pledging their support for their candidate or entering undecided.  After two rounds of speaking, an open debate on the floor and mingling among individuals, ballots were filled out.  Sub-caucus chairs were Jacqueline Zumalt, Grangeville, Hillary Clinton campaign and Mary Ann High, Grangeville, Bernie Sanders campaign.  Perdue was sub-caucus chair for the undecideds.  There were no supporters for Candidate Rocky de la Fuero.
The final ballot count decided the division of the four delegates from Idaho County, three delegates for Sanders and one for Clinton.  The delegate list includes Clinton delegate, Nan Miguel, Grangeville and alternate Lou Ann McCune, Pollock.  Sanders delegates and alternates are Janet Barany, White Bird; Jared Reynolds, Grangeville; Linda Hagedorn, Pollock; Taylor Cash, Cottonwood; Liz Clark, Clearwater; and Bonnie Shonefeld, Kooskia.
The Idaho State Democratic Convention will be held in Boise, June 17th through the 19th.  In total, 384 delegates from throughout Idaho, with their alternates, will attend the convention.  From Idaho, 24 delegates and two alternates will attend the National Democratic Convention, the week of July 25 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to nominate the Democratic candidates for President and Vice President of the United States of America.
