Just for the Hill of It
The annual Just for the Hill of It Bike Challenge on the old White Bird Grade is set for Saturday, June 4.
It starts are Hammer Creek Recreational Park and follows old Highway 95 for 13 miles until near the intersection with the current Hwy. 95, a raise in elevation of about 2200 feet.
There will be water stops along the route with fresh fruit, cookies and sport drinks provided at the finish.
Registration starts at 8 a.m. at Hammer Creek with the ride to start at 9 a.m. Registration cost is $25 if sent in prior to June 1 and $30 if after June 1. If you pay a $40 registration fee you will get a souvenir t-shirt that will be handed out the morning of the ride. There will also be a picnic lunch provided back at Hammer Creek after the ride is over.
The bike challenge is a benefit for Syringa Hospice in Grangeville.
