Prairie jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning with Hailey Danly getting things started with a 1-out solo home run.
5 walks and an error led to 3 more runs as Danly’s homer was the only hit in the inning.
Nezperce got their only run in the bottom of the first. Ross hit Nezperce’s Tianna Leitch with a pitch and successive wild pitches sent her to third. She scored on a groundout to first.
Nezperce would have only 3 more baserunners, all on walks, the rest of the game.
Meanwhile Prairie added 5 runs in the second inning. Danly led off with a double that was misjudged by the center fielder. Danly went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball where she barely was safe as the ball bounced off the backstop right back to the catcher.
Ross walked and moved to second on a groundout. A passed ball moved her to third. Sam Remacle was hit by a pitch and Lauren Alfrey, courtesy running for Remacle who is the catcher, stole second. Both runners scored on Sarah Ross’ double to left. Sarah Ross scored on Sydney Bruner’s single to left. Bruner stole second and moved to third on Abbie Uhlenkott’s single up the middle. Bruner then scored on Sarah Seubert’s groundout to short to make it 9-1.
Prairie added a run in the third as Hanna Ross reached on a passed ball third strike, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on Remacle’s double to left.
Hanna Ross ran into a little 2 out trouble in the bottom of the third with successive walks but induced a groundout to second to end the inning and strand the runners on second and third.
In the fourth Bruner drew a leadoff walk and stole second. She scored on Uhlenkott’s single to right. That gave Prairie the 10-run margin, at 11-1, they needed to end the game in 5 innings.
Prairie added another run in the fifth as Hanna Ross drew a leadoff walk. Kelsey Tidwell went in as a courtesy runner and stole second and went to third on a wild pitch. After two outs were made, Sarah Ross doubled to center to bring in Tidwell.
Hanna Ross gave up no hits with 8 strikeouts, 3 walks and 1 hit batter in 5 innings.
Prairie had 8 hits with Danly collecting a homer and a double and an RBI.
Sarah Ross had 2 doubles and 3 RBI. Uhlenkott had 2 singles and an RBI. Remacle had a double and an RBI. Bruner had a single and an RBI. Hanna Ross was officially 0 for 1 but drew 3 walks and scored 4 runs. Seubert had an RBI.

Troy scored their only 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the margin to 6-2.

Vs. Potlatch game 1
In the opening game against Potlatch Monday afternoon Prairie had a good start then fell apart in the top of the sixth and lost a game they probably should have won.
Prairie opened the game with 3 runs in the top of the first as Danly, Hanna Ross and Faith Uhlenkott had back-to-back-toback singles and all three scored. Danly singled to left and stole second. She scored on Ross’ single to left. Ross went to second on the throw home and advanced to third when the ball got away from the Hailey Danly cuts third as she circled the bases for a home run against Potlatch.catcher. Ross scored on Uhlenkott’s looping single to right center that dropped in between the fielders. Faith came around to score after advancing to second on a passed ball, to third on a wild pitch and scoring on an error.
Potlatch answered with a run in the bottom of the inning without benefit of a hit. A leadoff walk, stolen base and wild pitch had the runner on third where a groundout to short scored the run.
Prairie added 4 more in the second to take a 7-1 lead. Remacle led off with a single up the middle and Seubert walked. Kylie Tidwell singled home Remacle and a groundout to second by Danly scored Seubert. Faith Uhlenkott doubled to score Tidwell and Sarah Ross singled home Uhlenkott.
Neither team scored in the third. Prairie added a run in the fourth when Danly hit a 3-1 pitch over the left fielder’s head and circled the bases for a home run.
Potlatch scored a second run without benefit of a hit in the bottom of the fourth when a hit batsman and some wild pitches turned into a run. Through 4 innings Potlatch did not have a hit.
In the bottom of the fourth Potlatch finally got a hit on a leadoff bunt single. 2 stolen bases and an error later the score was 8-3.
In the top of the sixth Prairie added a run when Tidwell reached on a 1-out walk. She wound up advancing all the way to third on the first pitch to Danly which went to the backstop. The second pitch to Danly was another wild one and Tidwell scored to make it 9-3. Danly singled and Hanna Ross followed with a single but Danly was called out trying to advance to third on the single to left field.
With a 6-run lead heading into the bottom of the fifth, the wheels came off for pitcher Hanna Ross. All of a sudden she could not find the plate and walked 4 straight batters on just 18 pitches. After walking in a run, coach Jeff Martin brought Faith Uhlenkott in from left field to pitch. Uhlenkott forced in another run on another walk. Potlatch then managed to score 2 runs on a sacrifice fly to left. The runner on first was nearly doubled off but the other two runners had tagged up. The second runner scored as they tried to double the runner off first.
An error followed before Prairie got the second out on a forceout at third. A single up the middle got Potlatch within 1 run and a triple over the centerfielder’s head brought in the tying and go-ahead runs.
In the top of the seventh Prairie got two quick outs before trying to get a rally going. Abbie Uhlenkott singled to left and Remacle dropped a flare behind second base for a double that had runners on second and third. Seubert then hit a fly ball to center but it was caught to end the game.
Ross only gave up 1 hit in 5 plus innings but allowed 7 runs as she gave up 11 walks and hit 3 batters. Uhlenkott wound up with the loss as she gave up 3 runs on 2 hits with 1 walk in an inning.
Prairie meanwhile outhit Potlatch 13-3 but drew only 3 walks so actually had fewer base runners. Danly had a homer and 2 singles and an RBI. Faith Uhlenkott had a double and a single and 2 RBI. Remacle had a double and a single. Hanna Ross had 2 singles and an RBI. Tidwell and Sarah Ross each had a single and an RBI while Abbie Uhlenkott and Seubert each had a single.

Vs. Potlatch game 2
Despite the way they lost the first game, Prairie came back strong in the second game as their hitting attack stayed strong and Faith Uhlenkott performed well in the circle.
Potlatch scored first as their leadoff hitter reached on a passed ball third strike, moved to second on a single, led a double steal of second and third and scored on a groundout to short.
All you needed to know about how the first game loss affected the Pirates is that they came back with 6 runs in the bottom of the first.Faith Uhlenkott catches an infield popup in the second Potlatch game.
Tidwell led off with a flare into the outfield for a single. She stole second and scored on Danly’s single to left. Danly went to second on the throw home and scored when Faith Uhlenkott singled to left. Sarah Ross doubled to left center to score Uhlenkott. Bruner reached on an error when the shortstop threw wide of first as Ross went to third. Abbie Uhlenkott then tripled to the gap as the left and centerfielder almost collided trying to make the catch. Ross and Bruner both scored. Remacle walked but courtesy runner Lauren Alfrey got forced at second when Seubert’s fly ball to center wound up dropping in. Meanwhile Abbie Uhlenkott had advanced to third. Seubert then attempted to steal second and the throw went through but got bobbled as Uhlenkott stole home to make it 6-1.
Faith Uhlenkott hit the leadoff batter in the second inning but the next batter hit a short fly to Seubert at first who doubled off the runner. A groundout to short ended the inning.
Prairie added 2 more in the second as Danly and Hanna Ross hit back to back singles with Danly scoring all the way from first. Sarah Ross then collected her second RBI double of the game to score her sister from second.
Potlatch added another run in the third as their short but speedy lefty-hitting leadoff hitter drew her fourth walk of the day and reached base for the sixth straight time. Two passed balls put her on third and she scored on a groundout.
Prairie answered with a 4-spot in the bottom of the inning. Remacle was hit by a pitch leading off and Seubert followed with a single. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch which allowed Tidwell an open base at first when she missed for strike 3 on a ball in the dirt. That loaded the bases. A popout and a strikeout still had the bases loaded with now 2 outs. Faith Uhlenkott singled up the middle to score 2 runs. Sarah Ross singled home Tidwell and then she and Faith Uhlenkott executed another delayed double steal as Uhlenkott scored after the throw went to second to make it 12-2.
Potlatch got 3 hits in the fourth to score 2 runs and cut the lead to 12-4.
Prairie got those runs plus 1 more back in the bottom of the fourth. Remacle doubled with 1 out and Seubert then beat out an infield single as her short pop up inside of second base fell untouched. Alfrey, running for Remacle, wound up scoring on the play. Tidwell reached on an error by the pitcher and both she and Seubert advanced 2 bases each on consecutive wild pitches with Seubert scoring on the second one. That put the lead back at 10 and Hanna Ross added an insurance run when she doubled to left to score Tidwell.
Faith Uhlenkott got 1 quick out in the bottom of the fifth but a single followed. The batter tried to stretch it to a double but Danly snagged the high throw coming in from the outfield and was able to tag out the running coming into second for the out.
A dropped fly ball in right and a single put two runners on but Uhlenkott was able to end the game on a called strike 3. The game ended on the 10-run mercy rule as Prairie won 15-4.
Uhlenkott gave up 4 runs on 7 hits in 5 innings with 1 walk and 1 hit batters and just 1 strikeout but it was the game-ender.
Prairie had another 14 hits as Sarah Ross had 2 doubles and a single and 3 RBI. Hanna Ross had a double and a single and 2 RBI. Faith Uhlenkott had 2 singles and 2 RBI. Danly had 2 singles and an RBI. Seubert had 2 singles. Abbie Uhlenkott had a triple and 2 RBI. Remacle had a double and Tidwell had a single.
Prairie is now 5-2 in league play and 9-3 overall.
