No parking on East St. during Fair
In order to save the work already accomplished, provide for the safety of our motoring public, and to prepare for the next phase of projects, there will be NO PARKING on East St. in Cottonwood during the Idaho County Fair.  The area will be from the intersection of Foster and East north to the intersection of Butler and East.
East Street is the one on the East side of the Fairgrounds, between the fairgrounds and the (fenced) football field.  Butler is the intersection where East meets the school parking lot.  Foster is the end of the street by the Baptist Church, the same street that meets the North entrance into Cottonwood.
The city has just finished redoing this entire street, and the plan is that next year they will be adding a wide sidewalk where an old one now exists.  In order to properly repair East St. the crews had to build it up, resulting in a 'lift' on the street and gravel fill down to the existing sidewalk. Having cars drive off of and onto the street will destroy the base support, the edge of the street and could result in damage to vehicles.
The Fair Board has had arrangements in place for quite some time to park stock trailers in the football field area.  I would strongly recommend that everyone do this, as leaving them inside the fairgrounds area clogs up emergency access and takes up space for others to camp.
There is also room for parking in front of, and behind, the elementary school, and the Sheriff's posse has been providing a shuttle service for years from those locations.
The area will be clearly marked NO PARKING, and violators could face a criminal citation or have their car towed from the location.  I am asking that we work together to avoid that!
I understand that this may be an inconvenience, and do apologize for that.  However, I also need to consider everyone’s safety and it is my belief that by closing this area to parking I will ensure safe travels for everyone, and ensure that we can still build on improving the area for future use.
Any questions feel free to call me.
