4 vie for Fair Royalty
There are 4 young ladies vying to be the 2017 Idaho County Fair Queen and Princesses. They are Kally Arnzen of Grangeville, Selena Davila of Cottonwood, Tiffany Sonnen of Greencreek and Chaye Uptmor of Keuterville.
Judging will be done at the Royalty Luncheon next Tuesday, August 9. The new Queen and 2 Princesses will be crowned on Friday, August 19 at the Idaho County Fair.
Selena Davila
Selena Davila is the 17 year old daughter of Dennis and Helen Rowland of Cottonwood and Adam and Nicole Davila. She will be a senior Prairie High School.
She is currently active in Future Farmers of America (FFA) and is the chapter vice president while also an active member of her 4-H club. She also participates in the Drug-Free Group, Prairie League and youth group.
She has been involved in 4-H for 10 years, has taken market beef projects for 8 of those years, 4 years of horse 4-H, had a dog project when she was a Cloverbud and is taking photography. She also was an Idaho County 4-H Ambassador for the 2014-15 year.
She is currently employed at Cottonwood Livestock Auction and Cottonwood Veterinary Clinic.
She enjoys reading and riding horses and pretty much doing anything outdoors.
After high school she plans to attend Washington State University to study veterinary medicine.
Her 3 life goals are to use her past experience to get into the veterinary program at WSU; to work at a vet clinic part-time to support herself during college and volunteer time in the lab and her third goal is to earn her veterinary license and be able to come back and work with her mom at her veterinary clinic.
She believes her strongest personal quality is that she is responsible. She is always on time, is organized and if she says she’s going to do something, she will get it done.
The most important part of her life is her family because they are always there to support her  and help her achieve her goals in education and in life.
She has a large family as she has 2 moms and 2 dad who have each taken so much time to support her and raise her into the person she is today. Her many step-siblings have also influenced her life, including how she treats other people.
She has lived in Idaho County for 10 years.
Tiffany Sonnen
Tiffany Sonnen is the 17 year old daughter of Tom and Elaine Sonnen of Greencreek.
She will be a senior at Prairie High School.
Tiffany has been active in FFA for 3 years, two of those as an office. She has also been a part of Prairie League for 3 years and Youth Group for a year.
She was involved in the Lewis County Fair for 8 years, first as a Cloverbud and than a 4-H member. The past year she has been a member of Greencreek Active Workers 4-H Club and has had open class entries for the past 5 years at the Idaho County Fair.
She has worked at The Hangout for 3 years as well as at the family ranch.
She is interested in art and piano, anything animal related and also in auto repair.
After high school she plans to attend LCSC for auto mechanics and hopes to own her own repair shop.
Her three goals are to attend and graduate college in auto repair. After college she plans to get a well-paying job and save to eventually own her own repair shop.
She feels her strongest quality is how well she gets along with others. She has always found it very easy to make friends.
The most important thing in her life is the support of her family and friends. Everyone in her life is so supportive in everything she does and are always there to pick her up if she stumbles.
Her family is the best thing in her life. Her father is someone who will help you do anything and is never afraid to get his hands dirty. Her mother is her rock, she is there no matter what and is always willing to help. She also has a very caring brother. He has been through a lot in life but always gets back up and moves forward. 
Tiffany has lived in Idaho County here entire life.
Chaye Uptmor
Chaye Uptmor is the 17 year old daughter of Roger and Chris Uptmor of Keuterville.
She will be a senior at Prairie High School.
She is involved in varsity volleyball, basketball and track, played summer softball before high school and has taken tap dancing for 7 years. and has been very active in community service: serving at Mass, cleaning roads in Keuterville, working at the Parish Dinner, visiting the elderly, working as an aide for Elementary teachers, decorating the church at Christmas, helping with peewee basketball, helping decorate homes for Christmas and working at the Ferdinand Church Bazaar.
Awards she has earned are 4th at state in the VFW Patriot’s Pen in 2010 and IHSAA 1A Interscholastic Star Award for 2016 as well as several team awards.
Her past fair involvement includes 2 years of rabbits, 1 year of cooking, 2 years of dogs, 4 years of horses and 9 years of market swine which included the grand champion for quality at the 2014 fair.  She has been involved in 4-H during the Fair since 2004.
She works for her parents on the family farm and ranch.
Hobbies include basketball, volleyball, running track, reading, hiking, fishing, camping, 4-H and spending time with friends and family.
After high school she plans to attend either the University of Idaho or Lewis-Clark State College and work toward a degree in either biomedical engineering or business.
Her 3 life goals are to graduate college with a degree; find a rewarding job in her field and raise a family.
She feels her strongest personal quality is her determination. When she sets her mind on something she gets it done to the best of her ability and likes to see projects through to the end. 
The most important thing in her life is God. He made her who she is and He gave her all the wonderful blessings and gifts in her life. Without Him nothing is possible.
She has an older sister, Chantel, who lives in Seattle and is a personal trainer. Her younger brother Reid will be a freshman and loves to ride his dirt bike and hunt. Her parents farm and ranch and her dad is also a machinist. As a family they attend Mass on Sundays and also enjoy camping, hiking, fishing and 4-wheeler rides together.
Chaye has lived in Idaho County her entire life.
Kally Arnzen
Kally Arnzen is the 16 year old daughter of Gerald and Janelle Arnzen of Grangeville.
She will be a junior at Grangeville High School.
She participates in varsity volleyball and track at GHS, is student council class treasurer, is a youth delegate for Idaho County Light & Power, is in the GHS concert and pep bands and is a member of the Lively Livestock 4-H Club.
She has been a member of Lively Livestock since she was 6 years old and as a Cloverbud the first two years showed a rabbit at the Fair. Since age 8 when she became old enough to show livestock animals, he has taken a lamb to the fair every year since. She has also submitted many crafts, drawings, sewing and egg quality projects throughout the years in open class.
She is employed on the family farm year-around which includes helping with harvest as well as feeding and working cattle.
She likes to hike, tend to her animals, read and play sports.
After graduation she plans to attend the University of Idaho and obtain an engineering degree. While there she would like to become involved in the many activities and intramural sports the school has to offer.
Three life goals are to go to college and get a degree in a field where she can prosper and maintain a good steady job she enjoys; explore different places before she settles down; eventually build a family and then have enough savings built to travel around the world and explore many different places.
She believes her strongest personality trait is that she is diligent. She is always diligent in her school studies, maintaining good grades and always working hard. She carries that same diligence to her extracurricular activities such as never giving up in sports and always giving her all. She also always makes sure she completes her jobs and tasks outside of school thoroughly and carefully and does not give up until the job is done. As her family would say, “perfect is close enough.”
The most important part of her life is her family. She has been fortunate enough to grow up around all of her grandparents and most of her extended family is close enough to visit often. Her family has been the most supportive people in her life, encouraging her in sports and school and everything in between. Even on her worst days they always support her and make sure that she knows they are behind her, no matter what.
Her immediate family includes her parents, Jerry and Janell and her older sister Jacey, who is currently attending the U of I (and is a former Fair Princess). Also living in Grangeville are her two grandmothers, Helen Egland and Rosanne Arnzen. All of her aunts and uncles and cousins are also very involved in her life and they wouldn’t have it any other way. At every holiday and celebration family comes to their house and they celebrate together. Her family also comes and supports all of her ventures and activities and cheer her on in all of her sports. 
Kally has lived in Idaho County her entire life. She was born at Cottonwood but has never lived anywhere but Grangeville.
