Idaho County Fair is this week
The Idaho County Fair kicked off Wednesday morning with the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.
Starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday 4-H and open class exhibits were being enter.
At 9:30 a.m. the 4-H Dog Show and 4-H Rabbit Show each got started in the Livestock Pavilion.
4-H exhibits were judged from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the building closed to the public at that time.
At 1 p.m. the 4-H Poultry Show will be held in the Livestock Pavilion.
At 1:30 p.m. the Pigtail Contest will be held in the Arena Building.
From1 to 6 p.m. open class entries were judged with that building closed to the public during that time.
From 3 to 8 p.m. 4-H livestock will be entered and weighed in.
At 7 p.m. will be the 4-H Fashion Show in the Arena Building.
Thursday, Aug. 18
The 4-H and FFA fitting and showing livestock contest will start at 8:30 a.m. Thursday morning and run until noon and then continue at 1 p.m.
At noon the Old-Time Fiddlers will be performing at the Gazebo.
From 1 to 5 p.m. a health fair will be held at the Cottonwood Community Hall, sponsored by the Partnership for Healthy Communities and other vendors.
Also at 1 p.m. Shiloh will perform.
At 3 p.m. “Brothers” will perform.
At 5 p.m. Hunter Angeny will perform.
At 7 p.m. will be the annual Two-Minute Talent Show in the Arena Building.
Friday, Aug. 19.
The 4-H & FFA Livestock Judging contest will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday.
The 4-H and FFA livestock quality judging will run from 9:30 a.m. until noon and then continue again at 1 p.m.
At 1 p.m. will be the 4-H Horse Fitting and Showing contest. The 4-H Showmanship Round Robin contest will begin at the conclusion of all livestock judging.
The Old-Time Fiddlers will be performing again at 1 p.m.
Sophee’s Face Painting will open at 3 p.m.
From 4 to 7 p.m. the Prairie Booster Club will have their annual Potato Bar at the City Park Cabana.
At 5 p.m. the Clearwater Valley Cloggers will be performing.
At 7:30 p.m. Vintage Youth will be performing.
At 7 p.m. the Royalty Evening will start in the Arena Building. The 2017 candidates will be introduced and the 2017 Royalty will be crowned.
After the Royalty Crowning the 4-H Green Swing dance will take place in the Livestock Pavilion.
Saturday, Aug. 20
Saturday’s activities start with the Idaho County Fair Parade at 10 a.m. on Main Street. The theme is “There’s No Place Like Home at the Idaho County Fair.” Contact Karla Enneking, 962-3892 to enter.
At noon the 4-H awards will be presented in the Livestock Pavilion.
From 11:30 a.m. until after the sale is over the Idaho/Lewis County Cattlemen’s Beef Barbecue will be held near the gazebo.
At 1 p.m. the 4-H Market Livestock Sale will be held at the Livestock Pavilion.
At 3:30 p.m. the exhibit buildings will be closed.
From 4 to 6 p.m. you can check out your exhibits, have your claim checks.

The 4-H exhibit building got a new roof this year.

The4-H Cook Shack also got a new roof.

Also new at the Fair is a hog holding pen outside the Livestock Arena. A door will be cut through in the corner. 
This is to alleviate having so many hogs inside the building during the sale.

A large group of girls await their turn for “Making the Most of Me” judging on Monday morning.


This year’s stage decorations for the 4-H Fashion show take on a Wizard of Oz theme with the Fair’s theme of “There’s No Place Like Home at the Idaho County Fair.”

You may not be able to see it in the photos above  but the Podium has been made up to look like the house that fell on the Wicked Witch of the East 
with the striped stocking legs and ruby slippers sticking out from underneath.
