October events for Tri-Parish Youth
Dear Youth in Christ,
The Lord gives us greatness in all season.  The beautiful Fall leaves and the feeling in the crisp air speaks the presence of God, a God who call us to live as disciples of faith as a response to His love.  During this season of October we will live this call through prayer, study, service, socials, and active faith.  Please look at our activities and see where God may be speaking to you.  We would love to see you and thank in advance for showing God’s love to others through your involvement in our youth ministry process.
We will begin the month with an invitation to our High School youth to attend a Bible study on the Book of Tobit.  We will begin with Pizza at 6:30 and begin our study at 7:00 and will go for a walk at 8:00.  All High School youth interested in learning about the Bible are invited.
On Oct. 5th anyone who interested in being a part of our 2018 mission trip to Haiti is asked to attend an informational meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the OMG youth room.  This is a great night to bring your questions as we begin the planning process.
On Oct. 6th through 8th I will be attending an educational conference in Boise with 6 other members from our youth ministry core team.  Please pray for us as we strive to grow in knowledge and wisdom in this ministry with our youth.
On Oct. 9th I will be attending a North Central deanery meeting in Orofino.  This meeting will involve organizing and planning a Youth Leadership retreat that will take place here in Cottonwood on Nov. 12th and 13th.  On Oct.12th the High School group is meeting as a pilot group to begin the Y disciple program.  We will meet at the OMG at 6:30 for dinner and begin the study at 7:00.  All High School youth interested in growing in their faith are invited to attend.
On Oct. 14th the Youth Ministry and the Tri Parish Retreat team welcomes nationally known speaker, Chris Padgett to St. Mary’s.   He will be speaking on marriage and family.  We will begin the night with a dinner at the Sacred Heart Room at 6:00 p.m. which will be followed by Chris’s presentation.  Chris’s presentation is filled with humor and practical ways to build your marriage and improve your family relationships.  We will be taking a free will offering to help defer the costs.  Please tell your friends and if you need a babysitter during the session please call Julie Arnzen at 962-3464 or call Debbie at 208-553-5837.
On Oct. 15th, all youth who are serving for Abbigail Lustig’s wedding will meet at the Greencreek Hall on Saturday. We will have more details as to the time etc..as the time gets closer.
On Oct. 16th we will have our first Confirmation class. If you signed up for night classes please meet at the CEC building at 7:00.  I will have your books and I look forward to beginning this great journey with you.  If you are attending Release time or Summit Academy you do not have to attend this first year of preparation.   If you are home schooling, please talk to Father Paul to get permission to do this first year at home.  Everyone is asked to sign the registration sheets for the first year at the entrances of all the Churches.
On Oct. 17th we will have our monthly prayer session with the Jr. High. We will begin the night with food at 6:30 and begin our study on “Prayer and Music”. Each youth is asked to bring the title of their favorite Song on a piece of paper.
On Oct. 19th the Jr. High and High School youth are invited to the OMG at 5:00 to begin our “Trick or Treat” for canned food extravaganza.  You are asked to dress up for this event. Our agenda will be to trick or treat the whole town, stopping at 7:00 p.m. to eat dinner at specific houses throughout our assigned destinations. (If you are interested in hosting a group of 8 trick or treaters for dinners please let me know).  We will meet back at the OMG room at 8:00 p.m. for dessert.
On Oct. 26th we will have a social for the High School youth, planned by 2 of the peer ministers.  Watch the bulletin for more information.
Road side clean for High School and Jr. High youth is scheduled for Oct 29th at 10:00 a.m.  Meet at Debbie’s office and bring your gloves.  Following the clean up we will go to Subway for lunch!
This month is full of great opportunities to grow in discipleship.  Please consider joining us as we strive to make a difference in our Christian walk with God.  May your hearts be open to God’s prompting in your life.  Come and see what God has to offer and bring a friend! (Make sure you pick up a pamphlet about our Nov. 12th and 13th retreat).
With Great Gratitude,
