Redneck Review
No. 76 10/3/2016
On occasion, a quick look at history blended with a bit of common sense can shed much needed light on the current infatuation with socialism we find in much of our country today!
Any researcher on the internet can find information about the early attempts made in this country with an economic set up best called then and now a COMMON STOREHOUSE system, based on common ownership of land. First in Jamestown with its leader John Smith, 1607, and in Plymouth Colony led by William Bradford, 1620, an agreement was reached by the Christian folks there that all provisions would be put in a common store, and then would be shared equally when needed by all members of the community.
In records kept by both men, it was noted that the system quickly resulted in many of the people simply sitting back and relaxing while the more ambitious worked hard to fill the common store. However, all were willing to take what they needed when it became time to use the goods! Both experiments ended in disaster, called the "Starving Time" in Jamestown, and both discovered later that a different system allowing families to own their own land, feed themselves, and sell excess they might produce, was more efficient! Bluntly, as can be found in the Bible, it was decided "He who does not work will not eat." A Google search: "Common store house - Prager U." gives a good look at this history!
Thus it can be seen that a system which places the burden of production on one group of people to be shared by others who have no part in the production has not worked before, and will not work today! Common sense says this is true! Human nature being what it is, who would not be tempted to live off the effort of others if the situation presented itself? And is that not exactly the current rage in both the U.S., and in the world today? Income equality! Tax the producer! The more productive, as determined by the income earned by meeting the needs of others, the more should the tax be! And why not be generous? Why not everyone enjoy a standard of living that is comfortable, and which equalizes the use of the earth's resources? How can this be done? Well of course, by a very powerful and a very benevolent government, run by individuals who promise all equal shares of the goods produced by the most efficient few! Disastrous! Take another look at Venezuela today!
And what about the MACRO economic theory mentioned last week? Essentially, use all the national statistics available on unemployment, inflation, income levels, to decide what government programs to use to create a more equitable sharing of scarce resources! And the economics to be used to achieve these results? Why Keynes of course! Use the power of government's fiscal policy to borrow, spend, tax, make grants, regulate and control, and the FED's monetary policy to regulate interest rates, create and loan money... all designed to keep the economy on a steady improving pace, eliminating the booms and busts which seem to accompany unregulated economies! Simple! Just "Step on the gas" by making money more available and cheaper during times of slow down and recession, and then "Apply the economic brakes" when things get overheated and inflation threatens! Hey! Is the continually surging stock market not a sign of easy money and near zero interest?
Does it work? History of the past says "NO!" And our current situation says the same! Easy it is for the folks in charge to crank up an ailing economy like we have had with "QE" creations of low interest money! Witness our $19 trillion debt, and the FED's unwillingness to raise those rates! Both history and common sense tells us it is politically disastrous both to stop our deficit spending habit, and begin raising interest rates! Voters will rebel!!

To the Editor
Thank you to Wayne Wimer of Seattle, WA. for his lengthy serial account of the various atrocities of the former leader of Libya, the extremely evil and murderous Muammar Qaddafi who has eventually received his due at the hands of his own people.  It is a shame it took so long and so many people died at the hands of this terrorist thug before he could be stopped.
What is amazing is the lengths that Wayne went through to illustrate what an evil person it was that Donald Trump, a real estate magnate, agreed to rent property to back in 2009;  and then, after government and public outcry, Qaddafi backed off and didn’t use the property, Trump had the audacity to not give him his money back!
Donald Trump is a real estate tycoon and by definition, makes his money buying, selling, trading and leasing real estate—sometimes to the least desirable people on the planet.  This would be similar to an investment broker accepting and investing monies from an arms dealer or a defense attorney defending some scumbag such as a rapist, mass murderer or Gitmo detainee.  You may have to hold your nose sometimes but that is what you do.
The intent of the letter, I assume, is an attempt to show Qaddafi as the scum of the Earth (which he was) and assert that Donald Trump is no better and therefore shouldn’t even be running for President, even to the point of evoking Ronald Reagan’s name.  Pretty risky for a liberal.
Personally, this business deal pales in comparison to the LONG litany of deceit, lies, cover-ups and shenanigans Hillary Clinton is guilty of.  At the very least, she should have been indicted for the e-mail fiasco and probably should be in prison.  She probably will be if Trump gets elected.  I won’t be looking for the final pro-Clinton tally in King County.  I already know how that will go.

Dear Editor:
Sheriff Doug Giddings is a Constitutional Sheriff. If you don’t know what that is, perhaps you should find out. Sheriff Giddings has been protecting our Constitution Rights for the past 8 years. If you want to give up your Rights, then vote for his opponent. Who by the way is on administrative leave because the Honorable thing to do when running against your Sheriff is to resign from your position. Evidently Mr. Martinez is not honorable.  And when Shelly Andrews made accusations against the Sheriff and his Deputies in a letter to an Editor and then said she had no proof only meant that she was spreading unfounded rumors. Shame on you Shelly Andrews.
As for me, I plan on voting for Sheriff Giddings this year and any other years he plans on running because I like my Constitutional Rights being protected by a Constitutional Sheriff.
Thank you
Patricia Menough
