Summit wins 3 league matches
The Summit Academy volleyball team picked up 3 league wins last week.
On Tuesday, Sept. 27 they won at Nezperce 15-25, 14-25, 25-23, 25-13, 15-9. On Wednesday, Sept. 28, they hosted Highland and avenged an earlier loss 25-15, 25-23, 25-15. Finally on Friday, Sept. 30 they hosted Timberline in a match played at 11 a.m., 25-16, 25-9, 25-14.
At Nezperce
It was Senior Night for Nezperce when the Patriots played there and the Indians came out strong, winning the first two games.
Summit gathered themselves though and pulled out a close third game to keep the match going and then won easily in the final two games for their second 5-game match win over Nezperce this season.
Lexi Currier had 75 assists in the match with Ally Sonnen recording 20 kills and 16 blocks for 36 total points won at the net. Erin Chmelik add 4 aces and 3 kills.
Vs. Highland
The following night it was Summit’s turn for Senior Night as they honored seniors Sonnen and Bridget Beckman.
They picked up a sweep over a Highland team that had edged them in 5 games earlier in the season.
Sonnen had 14 kills and 1 ace while Beckman had 2 kills and an ace.
Vs. Timberline
The Timberline home match was originally scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 6 but was moved up. Since both schools have 4-day school weeks with Fridays off, they played the match at 11 a.m. on Friday so that the Timberline girls could attend Timberline’s home football game that evening.
The Patriots had a strong team effort in the match.
With the 3 wins the Patriots improve to 7-4 overall and 7-3 in league play entrenching them in third place in the standings.
They have just two matches left, at Logos Tuesday, Oct. 4, and at Kendrick on Tuesday, Oct. 11. District action starts Saturday, Oct. 15 at LCSC.
