District meet set for Grangeville
The District Crosscountry meet will be at Grangeville Thursday, Oct. 20.
The girls varsity race starts at 3 p.m. followed by the boys at 3:30 p.m.
There will also be a JV races with both girls and boys to run together starting at 4 p.m.
The meet will be held at the golf course with the course designed to be as similar as possible to the State Meet course in Pocatello.
Prairie will act as a co-host for the meet as Grangeville has just one runner this year.
A great crosscrountry season
Seventeen High School athletes came out for the Prairie Cross Country team this year.   Led by a group of seniors and pushed by an outstanding group of freshman and sophomores and juniors, their season has been on a steady rise.   They would like to invite you to their district meet on Thursday the 20th of October at the Grangeville Golf Course.   Girl’s race is at 3pm and the boy’s race will follow at 3:30pm.   Both of these teams have some outstanding individuals but more importantly they have enough runners to form complete teams to compete for trips to state.    Half of the teams competing at the district meet will qualify for state and one third of the individuals can qualify for state.
Prairie’s cross country team is an unfunded team led by volunteer coaches.   I would like to thank Dave Young and Jenny Arnzen for joining me in giving of their time, talent and treasure to help these seventeen young people find a belief in their abilities and reach new levels of achievement this year.   I’m amazed by your enthusiasm and your dedication to helping these young people accomplish so much.  Thank you so much.   You are a pleasure to work with.
The Cross Country team was not able to have our Movie Night fundraiser on the football field like we did last year as the weather has not been very warm.   We hope that we can bring it back early next year to help us fund the continued success of the program.    We appreciate all those people who have helped us get through our first two years, your continued support of this mentally and physically challenging sport is appreciated.    If we perform like I think we can, we hope to take a large number of our athletes to the State meet in Pocatello on October 28th and 29th.    These young people have been training diligently, running up to 8 miles on some days and running miles of hills.   They have been a pleasure to be around and coach this year.
So, on Thursday the 20th please be thinking about this outstanding group if you can’t make our meet in Grangeville.   Or come over and watch these young athletes push their limits to try and earn their trip to the State Cross Country Meet.
