Summit girls lose twice
The Summit Academy Lady Patriots got off to a rough start as they lost their first two games of the season. Tuesday, Nov. 29 they lost at Highland 24-49 and Friday, Dec. 3 they lost to Kendrick 36-37 at Cottonwood.
At Highland
In their season opener at Craigmont the Huskies double-teamed Summit post player Ally Sonnen holding her to just 3 points.
Highland took a 4-10 lead after one quarter and led 13-23 at the half and 19-33 after 3 quarters.
Taylor Lustig was Summit’s big scorer with 12 points. Freshman point guard Lexi Currier scored 6 and Lauren Stubbers scored 3.
Despite having just 7 players on their roster, Summit actually had 1 more player than Highland.

Vs. Kendrick
Summit was a lot more competitive in their home opener against Kendrick, maybe because they now had a game under their belts.
Kendrick led after one period 4-6 but Summit took the lead in the second quarter and held a 15-12 lead at the half.
They held on to the lead at the end of 3 quarters, 24-20.
They still had the lead heading into the final seconds.
With under a minute left Kendrick pulled within 1 on a free throw. They then stole the ensuing inbounds pass and scored to take the lead in what became the final points of the game.
Summit could have won the game with a little more luck at the free throw line where they were 8 for 20.
Ally Sonnen and Currier each scored 10 points to lead Summit in scoring. Lustig scored 6, Stubbers 4 and Bridget Beckman and Erin Chmelik 3 each.
Summit is now 0-2 both in league and overall.
