Lady Pirates are now 9-0
The Prairie Lady Pirates improved to 9-0 on the season with 3 more wins last week. On Tuesday, Dec. 6 they edged Moscow 41-37 at Bear Den in Moscow. On Thursday, Dec. 8 they won 59-27 at Kamiah then on Saturday, Dec. 10 they held off Troy 46-35 at Cottonwood.
At Moscow
In the game at Moscow Prairie led most of the way then held off a late Moscow rally.
Prairie led 15-10 at the end of the first quarter and 22-18 at the half. They took a 33-25 lead into the fourth quarter.
Moscow pulled within 2 points with 30 seconds left when 5’11” post Gracey Meyer stole an inbounds pass and scored a layup. The Bears got the ball back and had the ball out of bounds under their basket with 10 seconds left.  Coach Lori Mader figured Meyer was likely to get the ball and had her defenders double-team her as soon as she got the pass. That forced an errant shot and Prairie wound up getting the rebound. Jordyn Higgins then got fouled and made both free throws with 4 seconds left to seal it.
Angela Wemhoff wound up leading Prairie in scoring with 14 points. Josie Peery scored 8, Jordyn Higgins 7, Kylie Tidwell 6, India Peery 3, Chaye Uptmor 2 and Sydney Bruner 1.
Prairie’s JV team also had their closest game of the season so far, beating Moscow 35-29.

At Kamiah
In a league game at Kamiah Thursday, Dec. 8, Prairie dominated the first and third quarters and cruised to a 59-27 win.
Prairie jumped out to an 18-3 lead after one quarter but then got a little sloppy in the second quarter as Kamiah outscored the Pirates 5-13 to pull within 23-16 at the half.
Prairie came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring the Kubs 17-0 to take full control of the game. 
Wemhoff led the scoring with 16 points and added 7 steals. Uptmor was right behind in both categories with 14 points and 5 steals. Leah Higgins had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Tidwell scored 6 with Sydney Bruner and Jordyn Higgins scoring 4 each, India Peery 3 and Josie Peery 2.
Josie Peery added 9 rebounds.
The JV team cruised to another easy win, 62-12.

Vs. Troy
In the game against Troy, Prairie led by as many as 12 in the first half but the Trojans started the second half with a 0-8 run that cut the lead to just 2 points at 26-24. Prairie then scored 14 straight points as part of an 18-2 run the gave them control of the contest.Sydney Bruner puts up a shot against Troy.
Prairie jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the game as Prairie threw a swarming full-court press at the Trojans. Wemhoff opened the scoring by hitting a free throw after making a steal. 
Two steals by Tidwell led to a basket each by Uptmor and Wemhoff.
Troy answered with a pair of baskets by 6’ post Abby Blum. A free throw by Josie Peery and a steal and drive for a lay-up by Wemhoff made it 8-4.
Troy came back to tie it at 8-8 but Wemhoff scored off another steal and India Peery followed with her own steal and basket to make it 12-8 at the quarter break.
Prairie started the second quarter with a 12-4 run that gave them a 24-12 lead. Tidwell scored on 5 of 8 free throw attempts in the quarter including 2 in the final minute that gave Prairie a 26-16 halftime lead after Troy had pulled within 8.
Prairie struggled with their shooting in the third quarter as they went scoreless for 6:38 as Troy posted 8 straight points to cut the margin to 2 at 26-24 with 1:45 left.
Tidwell finally broke the drought with a lay-up off a feed from Uptmor. Tidwell then fed Wemhoff for a basket inside to make it 30-24 after 3 quarters.
A steal by Wemhoff led to a basket by Leah Higgins to open the fourth quarter. Wemhoff picked up another assist on an inbounds pass to Bruner who made a nice post move to get the ball up past Blum.
A 10 foot jumper by Uptmor and lay-ups from Leah Higgins and Wemhoff completed Prairie’s 14-0 run and put them up 40-24.
Troy finally broke their scoring drought of 6 minutes with a basket but a perimeter jumper by by Tidwell and a 2 free throws by Uptmor made it 44-26 and completed an 18-2 run.
Troy scored 5 unanswered points, all at the free throw line to get back within 13. Bruner broke that run by putting back a missed free throw. 
Troy then scored the game’s final 4 points to cut the final margin to 11.
Wemhoff wound up as Prairie’s leading scorer with 13 points and added 6 steals, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Tidwell scored 9 points and also had 6 steals with 3 assists. Uptmor scored 8 and had 5 steals and 5 rebounds.  Bruner scored 6 while Leah Higgins and India Peery scored 4 each and Josie Peery scored 2.
Troy dominated the board 29-44 with Leah Higgins leading Prairie with 7.
Blum had 16 points and 17 rebounds for Troy but the Trojans had just 1 other player scored more than 3 points.
Prairie was 17 for 47 from the field, 36%, and 10 for 20 from the line, 50%. Troy was 12 for 41 from the field, 29%, and 11 for 17 at the line, 65%.
Prairie is now 9-0 on the season and 4-0 in league play.
The JV team rolled to another easy win, 64-11.
Prairie scored the first 14 points of the game and led 19-2 at the end of the first quarter.
They then scored the first 19 points of the second quarter to complete a 24-0 run as they led 38-2 with 1:50 left in the half. To that point Troy’s only 2 points came at the free throw line. Troy finally scored their first basket with 1:31 left in the half. 
Prairie led 42-6 at the halftime break.
The onslaught continued in the second half as Prairie scored the first 10 points of the third quarter and the first 10 of the fourth quarter.
Troy finally broke into double figures with a pair of free throws with 21 seconds left.
Theresa Wemhoff led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points and added 4 steals. Kristyna Krogh scored 9 points while Alexis Hiler and Sarah Ross scored 8 each. Ciara Chaffee scored 7. Kodie Tidwell and Kendra Duclos scored 6 each. Sierah Poxleitner and Brooklyn Riener scored 4 each and Alexis Shears scored 2.
Prairie dominated the boards 35-18. Ross led the team with 7 with Chaffee adding 6.
Tidwell and Wemhoff had 4 steals each while Wemhoff had 5 assists and Tidwell had 3.
Prairie was 27 for 52 from the field, 52%, and 10 for 21 from the line, 48%. Troy was 3 for 23 from the field, 13%, and 5 for 9 at the line, 56%.
