Evidently vote recounts will go on, but time is short, as the meeting of the electors on the19th is coming up fast, about a week from now! Hard it is to believe that a legitimate and certified recount of the states selected can even be accomplished in that time!
And the current lead in those states by Trump makes it difficult to believe that there is any chance that a recount could throw the election to Clinton. Consider the latest statistics: Current electoral count: Trump - 306, Clinton - 232. Needed to win - 270. In the recount states, Pennsylvania has 20, Michigan has 16, and Wisconsin has 10 electoral votes. The most recent popular vote count in these three states shows Trump ahead by 47,500in Pennsylvania, by 10,000 in Michigan, and 22,000 in Wisconsin.
Now just suppose that a recount would give Clinton the two states of Pennsylvania and Michigan. Adding those 36 electors to Hillary's 232, gives her 268 electoral votes, still not enough to win! And subtracting those from Trump's 306 total still gives him the necessary270 to win! So unless recounts can change the outcome in all three of those states, the matter is settled, and Donald Trump will be our next president come January, 2017.
Of course, there is another very remote possibility! That the recount backers can find some other state with just a handful of electors and a very close popular vote, to throw into the mix and come up with the few needed to turn the tide! Very bluntly, this is not going to happen!
And then, there is another possibility! Change the results in Pennsylvania and Michigan, and get a handful of electors currently counted for Trump to switch to Hillary! Or simply drop their support for Trump, but not vote for Hillary! Then neither of the two would have the 270needed to win, so the entire matter would be tossed back to the procedure outlined in the Constitution! There the House of Representatives select the president from those who have the most electoral votes... so, the House being Republican, Trump wins! So again, we might as well prepare for a Trump administration for the next four years!
Only time will tell, but the news releases we see daily should convince all lovers of freedom that his administration is going to turn us back a bit towards the America people my age remember from decades ago. The Trump cabinet being formed definitely sends a signal that this might well happen! That America was founded on the solid rock of Christian values which date back to the person of Christ who changed the course of history some 2000 years ago. Though progressives scoff at the claim, history tells us that our Constitution and our Declaration of Independence were designed to create a country based on these values. For one, that each individual has been given the miracle of life, and is unique and different from the other billions who inhabit this planet. Thus all life is precious, and as such, deserves to be protected and respected.
Second, that each individual has unique talents, and will be rewarded or punished based on how well these talents are developed and utilized. As the Bible says in words to this effect, that much will be expected from those to whom much is given. The flip side of this then, is that the newborn, the young, the helpless, and handicapped have the right to be respected and cared for by those to whom much has been given. And all have the responsibility to care for themselves, those around them, and society in general. In a nutshell, as Christ said very clearly when asked which was the greatest commandment: Love God above all things, and your neighbor as yourself! This simple principle would solve all our problems!
