Letters to the editor from this week's Chronicle:

Redneck Review
No. 92--1/23/2017
Once in awhile it comes time to count one's blessings! This thought hit me like a hard snowball this winter when some of the things which have happened around here and around the country were brought to my attention in the last couple of weeks.
On the world scene, one reads of avalanches and floods and hurricanes, and the slaughter of innocent people by trucks deliberately driving into large groups of people. People trapped in hotels buried under tons of snow. Cities being destroyed by the constant fighting involved when one group takes over an area, then retreats when the same is retaken by the original inhabitants. Entire families driven out of their homes and their native lands, and forced to flee and struggle to find any place to settle down and live in peace.
In our own country, we read daily of cars burned and business shops smashed when rioters not willing to accept the election process which made Donald Trump president gather in big and small cities throughout the land to loot and destroy. Daily papers stir up the discontents by printing letters and cartoons making a mockery of the new president and the people here presents. Senator Dan Foreman and Abolish Abortion Idaho are taken to task repeatedly for wanting to declare the killing of innocent children in the womb MURDER! Now, on this particular issue, would anyone be willing to explain to me why, first, that the deliberate taking of the life of an innocent and helpless child in the womb is not murder? People go to jail and are jailed for life or even lose their life if they deliberately take the life of an individual outside the womb. And modern science proves that the child in the womb is alive and can survive even if born even several months premature! We all have heard or read about a baby born early weighing as little as three pounds living and leading a normal life!
And second! Why is there so much venom directed at those who sincerely want to preserve life in the womb from day one? Or for that matter, why the same hatred shown to those who really feel that the biblical condem-nation of homosexuality comes from an omnipotent God who warns of severe penalties if practiced? Read Leviticus ch.18, v. 22, or ch. 20, v. 13 in the Old Testament, and Romans ch. 1. vs. 26 and 27 in the New for verification!
Sad! But there is another America, and another attitude toward life and neighbor right here and especially in our own locale. Here you read also of thank you letters in the paper when one in distress is helped by people passing by who stopped to give a hand or dig a car out of a snow drift or ditch. I personally know of a young couple from this area doing just this.
Traveling late at night with three young children to their home near Seattle, they stopped and spent an entire hour helping a distraught driver out of a snow bank. And I have personally witnessed neighbors around our area voluntarily dozing out snow blocked driveways or in some other way volunteering help to a neighbor in need. One example involved us personally as my wife and I returning from town just last week discovered Gus Hoene and his helper in our own drifted driveway, diligently clearing the way! These are just a few examples of the type of people you find in areas where a belief in God and love of neighbor can be found!
When one contrasts this with the life styles of people who find themselves in areas dominated by Marxists and radical Muslims, one can only say thank you, and work to keep what we have!
One final thing! Read Rick Rogers comment in Sunday's Lewiston Tribune, concerning how lucky we are to have our electoral system. Without it, two huge cities like New York and Los Angeles would have overthrown the wishes of voters in a large majority of our states!

Dear Editor
I enjoyed the photo in the Tribune of a protester smashing the windshield out of someone's car and a news clip from ABC showing other protesters throwing some liquid on nicely dressed inauguration attendees. It was enlightening for me to see the party of tolerance in action. It just warmed my heart to feel the love as I watched the hate flowing away. What fine examples they set for us deplorables and the rest of the world. Thanks
