Lady Pirates split final two regular season games
The Prairie Lady Pirates played the bottom and then the top of the league in their final 2 regular season games.
On Thursday, Jan. 26 they played cellar-dwelling Clearwater Valley at Cottonwood on Senior Night and won by a score of 69-13. Then on Saturday they closed out their regular season with a 36-56 loss at Lapwai.
Vs. C.V.
Prior to the game Prairie’s two seniors, Kylie Tidwell and Chaye Uptmor, were honored. Uptmor was unable to play in the game due to a foot injury suffered in the Asotin game the previous Monday.
Prairie raced out to a 33-2 lead after just one quarter and upped it to 45-4 by halftime.
The starters sat out the second half and Prairie still outscored the Rams 12-7 in the third quarter and 12-2 in a running clock fourth quarter.
Angela Wemhoff wound up as the leading scorer with 15 points with Tidwell adding 11. Jordyn Higgins scored 9, Leah Higgins 8, Sydney Bruner and India Peery 7 each, Kristyna Krogh 6 and Josie Peery and Theresa Wemhoff 3 each.
Jordyn Higgins and Josie Peery each had 7 rebounds and 7 steals in the game.
There was no JV game played.

At Lapwai
In the final regular season game at Lapwai, Prairie had a chance to grab a share of the league championship although Lapwai already had the #1 seed to District clinched due to a tiebreaker.India Peery with the ball at Lapwai.
Prairie scored first in the game on a drive to the hoop by Angela Wemhoff and led again at 3-2 when Wemhoff sank the second of a pair of free throws.
Lapwai then scored 5 straight points and led until India Peery sank a 3-pointer in the final seconds of the quarter to give Prairie a 10-9 lead.
Lapwai scored the first 3 points of the second quarter to retake the lead but a basket inside on an inbounds play by Josie Peery and a runner by Tidwell put Prairie back on top at 14-12.
Lapwai scored the next 3 points but Prairie took the lead again on a basket by Josie Peery with 2:52 left that made it 16-15. That lead lasted 22 seconds and was Prairie’s final lead of the game as Lapwai scored the next 5 points. 
Tidwell sank a couple of free throws in the final seconds of the half to make it 18-20 at the halftime break.
In the third quarter Prairie struggled to score as they hit just 2 of 12 from the field with 4 of the 10 misses being blocked shots. Meanwhile Lapwai’s Iris Domebo, who had scored just 3 points in the first half, scored 7 in a 3-16 run by the Wildcats that opened up a double digit lead.
Bruner scored 3 and India Peery 2 for Prairie’s only points of the quarter.
The onslaught continued in the fourth quarter. Wemhoff, who picked up her fourth foul in the third quarter, scored to open the fourth but Lapwai then scored the next 9 straight and led by as many as 26 points at 29-55. Prairie outscored them 7-1 over the final 2:10 to cut the final margin to 20.
Bruner scored 9 to lead Prairie with Tidwell, Wemhoff and India Peery scoring 7 each and Josie Peery 6.
Prairie had a 44-37 edge on the boards with Josie Peery grabbing 12 and Bruner 11 to lead the team.
Tidwell, Jordyn Higgins, Wemhoff and Bruner each had 2 steals for the Pirates while Jordyn and Leah Higgins each had 2 assists.
Prairie was 12 for 46 from the field, 26%, and 11 for 20 at the line, 55%. Lapwai was 21 for 61 from the field, 34%, and 11 for 19 at the line, 58%.
Prairie had 21 turnovers in the game compared to 14 for Lapwai.
Prairie finishes the regular season with an 18-2 record overall, 10-2 in league play.
They open District play Thursday, Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. against the highest remaining seed from the play-in games, which is likely to be Troy.
The JV team also lost only their second game of the season, also both to Lapwai, by a score of 38-69.
The score was tied at 6-6 in the first quarter when Lapwai put together a 0-14 run to take control of the game.
They led 8-22 after one quarter, 17-36 at the half and 28-47 after 3 quarters.
Kendra Duclos wound up as Prairie’s leading scorer with 10 points with Kodie Tidwell scoring 8. Alexis Hiler scored 6, Kristyna Krogh 5, Sarah Ross 4 and Ciara Chaffee and Hope McIntire 2 each.
Prairie had a 51-42 edge on the boards with Duclos and Chaffee each grabbing 11 to lead the team.
Tidwell had 6 steals and 2 assists while Hiler also had 2 assists.
Prairie was 11 for 57 from the field, 19%, and 16 for 39 at the line, 41%. Lapwai was 27 for 68 from the field, 40%, and 9 for 11 at the line, 82%.
