Knowledge Bowl team competes at Spokane
The mighty Prairie Knowledge Bowl Team of Garrett Crenshaw, Anthony Karel and Luis Samper Flores participated in the Inland Northwest Science Bowl at Whitworth University in Spokane on Saturday, the 18th of February.   Overall Prairie placed 11 out of 21 teams.
Due to Basketball and Wrestling Competitions held the same weekend, Prairie was down in numbers - but did an amazing job. They were the only 3 man team competing against schools with 4 team members and held their own.  Nearly every school in the competition was 3-10x larger in size than Prairie.  Lakeside and Timberlake with 500+ students, CDA Charter, Moscow and Lakeland with 700-800+ students, and Lake City with over 1500 students in their high school.
Anthony and Garrett answered numerous questions correctly and Luis was 100% on the questions he answered.  The Pirates Knowledge Bowl team was flawless in strategy, and did not lose any points for wrong answers or buzzing in at the wrong time.  They defeated Moscow 48-8 and Lakeland 28-12 and were in 2nd place out of 21 teams at that time.  Then they lost to Coeur 'd Alene Charter 62-26 in the 3rd round.  They lost a heartbreaker game to Lakeside WA 58-54 due to a scoring discrepancy that wasn't discovered until too late in the match.  Round 5 saw Prairie falling to Timberlake 44-8 and then in Round 6 Prairie defeated huge Lake City 42-16.   Overall winner was Pullman High School who qualified to attend the National Science Bowl in Washington DC in late April.
