Alzheimer's support group
The disease of Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia are very prevalent in this day and age.  USr. Barbara Bielenbergnfortunately there is no cure---yet.  It is very baffling not only for the person with the disease but also for his/her family and friends.  Those who care for the demented person find it very stressful and challenging at times.
Sr. Barbara A. Bielenberg is the Director of Mission Services at St. Mary’s Hospital.  She is also an R.N. of over 45 years.  One of the things she is offering in her job is a caregiver support group for those who care for demented people.  It helps to share with others who are experiencing the same kind of caregiving.  They can learn from each other different ways of handling things.  Sr. Barbara also helps with some educational information.  The group usually meets once a month.  The time of day or evening can be adjusted to accommodate those involved.
If you are one of those who is caring for an Alzheimer’s or another dementia person, a support group can be a very helpful thing for you in trying to give your best in your caregiving.  If interested please give Sr. Barbara a call either at St. Mary’s:  208-962-3251 Ext. 8239 or her cell:  509-455-6602.  If she doesn’t answer either phone, please leave a message with your number and she will get back to you.
