Jerry Johnson Hot Springs affected by runoff
Lochsa-Powell Ranger District staff said Friday that largest upper Pool at the Jerry Johnson hot springs was not impacted by the recent high water event. The District had received reports from visitors earlier this week that the user-created pools had all filled with sediment.
The two smaller lower pools have indeed filled in.
District staff again urge visitors to be patient and not to attempt digging out the lower pools. It has not been determined if the high water event affected the flow or location of the springs. This can’t be assessed until after the peak seasonal runoff ends. Spring runoff typically peaks around Memorial Day.
Another popular hotsprings, Weir Creek, was not affected by the event.
