McWilliams, Glimp, girls team are regional champions
The Prairie girls track team won the Regional Team Title with 101 points at the Regional Meet at Kootenai High School Friday and Saturday, May 12-13.

The top 5 finishers in each individual event and the top 2 relays advance to the State Meet at Middleton High School this Friday and Saturday, May 19-20.
McWilliams posted season best times in winning both hurdles races. She won the 100 hurdles in 16.29 and the 300 hurdles in 48.34. The 300 time was only .12 seconds off her school record.
Glimp’s discus mark was 143’1”. He also qualified for state in the shot put with a mark of 39’10”, good for third place.
The 4x100 team of Theresa Wemhoff, Jordyn Higgins, McWilliams and Laney Uhlenkott won with a time of 53.42.
The same 4 girls made up the 4x200 team which won in 1:51.97.
The 4x400 team of Wemhoff, Higgins, Ciara Chaffee and Uhlenkott won in a time of 4:23.27.
Also qualifying for state for the girls team was Chaye Uptmor in the 800, 1600 and 3200. She was 2nd in the 1600 in 5:46.67, 2nd in the 3200 in 12:56.14 and 4th in the 800 in 2:36.45.
Ciara Chaffee qualified for state in both the 800 and 1600, finishing third in each event. Her time was 2:33.27 in the 800 and 5:49.40 in the 1600.
Madison Ulmer took second in the discus with a mark of 96’1” to qualify for state. She also placed 11th in the shot put with a mark of 26’2¾”.
Also qualifying for state for the boys team was Sean Spencer with a 5th place finish in the 300 hurdles at 44.15.
Patrick Chmelik, who has to compete at Regionals and State in his Summit colors, finished 4th in the high jump at 5’8” to qualify for State. He was also 11th in the 400 in 58.16, 13th in the long jump at 17’9½” and 19th in the 200 in 25.66. He’ll have a busy day Friday with high jump competition starting at 9:30 a.m. PDT that morning and graduation at Summit that evening.
Other girls competing at Regionals include Kristyna Krogh, who was 9th in the 3200 in 14:38.64 and 15th in the 1600 in 7:03.31.
Emma Gehring was 7th in the shot at 27’8¼” and 13th in the discus at 74’11”.
Bailie Gehring was 7th in the discus at 86’6” and 21st in the shot at 21’6¼”.
The medley relay team of Wemhoff, Chaffee, Higgins and Uhlenkott finished just short of qualifying for state by placing third in 1:59.37.
For the boys team Carson Schmidt finished 1 spot shy of qualifying for state in the shot put with a 6th place finish at 37’5½”. He was also 7th in the discus at 114’7”.
Grant Gehring was 8th in the 3200 in 11:31.89, 9th in the 1600 in 5:09.92 and 10th in the 800 in 2:20.69.
Lucas Wemhoff was 12th in the 100 in 12.24 and 15th in the long jump at 16’11”.
Caleb McWilliams was 11th in the shot at 35’7” and 26th in the discus at 86’1”.
Hayden Uhlenkott was 17th in the discus at 105’4” and 33rd in the shot at 27’9½”.
Tucker Hibbard was 18th in the discus at 101’5” and 32nd in the shot at 28’11½”.
Ryan Arnzen was 35th in the shot at 26’10½” and 42nd in the discus at 62’2”.
Raice Dalgliesh was 25th in the 100 in 13.04.
Caleb McGee was 33rd in the 100 in 13.38 and 34th in the 200 in 27.49.
Luis Samper-Flores was 38th in the 200 in 28.68 and 40th in the 100 in 14.08.
The 4x100 relay team of Dalgliesh, McGee, Samper-Flores and McWilliams was 6th in 52.18.
The 4x200 team of Gehring, McGee, Samper-Flores and Anthony Karel was 8th in 1:45.70.
As a team the Priarie boys were 8th with 30 points while Chmelik’s 5 points earned for Summit had them in 15th place out of 19 teams that scored.

State meet to be at Middleton
The State Track Meet gets underway at 9 a.m. MDT Friday, May 19 with several field events . 
Patrick Chmelik will be the first field events competitor with the high jump competition starting at 10:30 a.m.
The 3200 finals will start at 9:30 a.m. with Prairie’s Chaye Uptmor in the third race as the running order will be 3A, 1A and 2A.
Ryan Glimp will be competing in the first flight of the shot put start at noon. Madison Ulmer will be competing in the first flight of the girls discus at 1:30 p.m. Glimp will be back in the second flight of the boys discus at 3 p.m. His mark is the second best among regional qualifiers.
The running preliminaries start at 3:30 p.m. with Mykaela McWilliams in the second heat of the 100 hurdles. Her regional mark is the second best coming in  by .01 seconds. Later in the day she will be in the second heat of the 300 hurdles where she also has the second best time coming in. Sean Spencer will be in the third of 3 heats of boys 300 hurdles prelims.
On Saturday the Parade of Athletes will be held at 11:30 a.m. with the running event finals starting at 12:30 with the 100 hurdles. After the girls and boys high hurdles races the 4x200 relay finals will be held. Prairie has the best incoming time in the event.
Next will be the 100 meter finals followed by the 800 meter final with Uptmor and Ciara Chaffee. Both are in the middle as far as incoming times.
Next up will be the 4x100 relay where Prairie has the second best regional meet winning time behind Challis.
After the 400 meter finals there will be a break to set up hurdles for the 300 hurdles finals.
After the 300 hurdles finals will be the 200 meter finals. After that is the 1600 where Uptmor and Chaffee will be competing. Uptmor is the defending state champion. Chaffee and Uptmor have the third and fourth best times coming in from Regionals.
The final event of the day is the 4x400 meter relay. Prairie enters that with the best time coming in from Regionals.
