County Dems clean highway
Sunday, May 21 was a beautiful day here on the Camas Prairie and the Idaho County Democrats made it even more beautiful by cleaning a section of Highway 95 that runs past Grangeville.
After many years of cleaning the two mile section twice a year, eleven people picked up more than 21 bags of garbage in less than an hour.  Some of the more interesting finds were miles of orange plastic twine, an empty garbage can and lid, an antifreeze tester still in its packaging, condoms, car parts and an old Christmas tree.  The usual but far fewer plastic bottles and cans were picked up, maybe due to the success of the Idaho County Recycling program.
Brunch was held afterwards, hosted at the home of Shelley Dumas.  Good food, lively discussion and plans for cleaning the section of Highway 12, for which the ICDP is responsible, followed.
The next ICDP monthly meeting will be on Monday, June 12 at the Grangeville Senior Center on the Truck Route.  Doors will open at 6:00 PM with the meeting to start at 6:30.  A part of the agenda will be a work party to put together a mailing to the members at large.  The Idaho State Democratic Central Committee will meet at Sandpoint on June 24 - 25.  A contingent of ICDP members are planning to attend.  The ICDP annual Picnic and Pie Auction will be Sunday, June 25, at the Cottonwood City Park.
