Would you like to see each student in the local school districts begin classes with all the supplies needed to begin the school year? Could you help St. Mary’s Hospital and clinics get school supplies for needy students? SMH is once again gathering school supplies for needy students in the Cottonwood, Nezperce, Kamiah and Craigmont schools. “Not all families can afford the cost of school supplies and because the need seems to increase each year, we are once again approaching members of the community to help with the project,” said Sr. Barbara Bielenberg, SMHC Community Fund Committee Chair. Boxes will be placed in the Cottonwood, Nezperce, Kamiah and Craigmont medical clinics from August 14th thru August 28th. Any and all new or very gently used school supplies are needed. Please drop them off at any one of the four clinics and the supplies will be distributed to the schools. If you would prefer not shop, cash donations are always welcome; those could also be dropped off at one of the clinics or mailed to St. Mary’s Hospital, attention: Brenda Kaschmitter-PO Box 137-Cottonwood, Idaho 83522. The cash will be used to purchase additional school supplies. Help put a smile on the face of a grateful student, parent or teacher and donate some school supplies today. If you think 9 to 5 can be tiring, try being a nurse! Each day brings new set of personalities and ailments, all of which nurses deal with grace and aplomb. They need to switch gears constantly from working directly with patients to doctors and doing office work. Tracy Williams is one of St. Mary’s amazing nurses. She is a Registered Nurse and wears many different hats. She is a Charge Nurse, a Labor & Delivery Nurse, and an ER & Surgical Nurse. Tracy says, “I don’t ever remember consciously making the decision to become an RN. I remember back to when I was a child, doctoring up my dolls and I believe this was always the plan for my life.” Tracy obtained her Associate’s Degree at Walla Walla Community College in June, 2013, and then went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree at LCSC in December, 2016. “There is not one thing I can single out about what I love most about my job,” Tracy continues. “I love helping the patients with a Band-Aid, education, or a hug. I love knowing that I can help make someone’s day better, and I love knowing that what I do makes a difference.” St. Mary’s Hospital thanks all of our “Everyday Heroes!” |
