The Indians controlled the match from start to finish.Claira Osborne makes a block at the net at Logos.
The JV team won both their games.
On Thursday, Sept. 7 against Logos at Moscow the Patriots appeared headed for another loss by a sweep but rallied to force a fifth game before falling 20-25, 17-25, 26-24, 25-22 and 13-15.
In the opening game Summit jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to 2 aces by Lexi Currier and a kill by Lauren Stubbers. Logos answered with 6 of the next 7 points to take their first lead.
Summit took back the lead when Currier’s turn came back around as she scored on a dig of a Logos spike and then served an ace for a 12-10 lead.
Logos answered with 4 straight points to retake the lead and never trailed again.
Summit kept it close for awhile as they trailed just 16-17 but a 2-7 run by Logos put the Knights at game point at 18-24.
A bricked serve and an ace by Claira Osborne cut the deficit to 4 before Logos notched the game point.
In the second game Logos jumped out to a 0-6 lead but a kill by Stubbers ended the run and started one for the Patriots.
Currier served 9 straight points to give Summit the lead at 10-6. She had 4 aces while Stubbers scored 3 kills and Taylor Lustig added another.
Summit was able to hold onto either the lead or a tie until Logos finally took back the lead at 16-17 and then allowed the Patriots just 1 more point in the game, finishing with 7 straight points.
That gave the Knights a 2 games to none lead.
The third game saw Summit come out and take a 7-3 lead. Claira Osborne helped extend it to 14-6 with 3 consecutive aces.
Logos was able to fight back and got to match point at 22-24. Stubbers scored a kill and Currier served an ace to tie it at 24. With Currier still serving Stubbers scored a kill and Currier finished it with an ace as Summit picked up a tough win.
Summit carried the momentum into the next game as Stubbers scored a sideout kill to open the game and Currier served 5 straight points with 3 aces for a 6-0 lead.
An ace by Lucy Orsborne made it 9-1 and an ace by Stubbers made it 11-2
After an ace by Claira Osborne, Summit led 17-9 but Logos then mounted a comeback as the rallied back to tie the game at 18-18.
Logos tied it again at 19 and at 21.
A kill by Lustig broke the tie and a kill each by Lustig and Claira Osborne put Summit at game point at 24-21.
Logos scored a sideout to extend the game but Claira Osborne then scored a spike that had Logos in the net in a block attempt to end the game.
The winner-take-all fifth game saw the score tied 3 times early on. Logos broke free to take leads of 6-10 and 8-13 but Summit rallied back.
Currier scored on a second touch tip to put Lustig on the service line. After 2 aces and a kill by Claira Osborne Summit was within 1 at 12-13.
Logos scored the kill to get to match point but Summit was able to stay alive on a sideout kill by Claira Osborne, who then went back to serve.
The match-winning point was somewhat of a letdown as Summit was called for a net violation to end it.
For the match Lauren Stubbers had 24 kills, 2 assists and 3 aces. Claira Osborne had 19 kills, including a block, and 5 aces. Currier had 5 kills, 43 assists and 12 aces.
