What can you expect on your next Clinic visit
“At St. Mary’s & Clearwater Valley Hospitals and Clinics we want to take care of you as a whole person, not just treat the issue you are experiencing at the time we see you. Because of this, we have implemented some new processes,” says Dr. Colleen Sholar, Family Physician at CVHC.
Physicians alone cannot do all of the work for most office visits. With our expanded services, the nurse, medical assistants or other clinical support staff, are able to create a smooth visit for the patient and a satisfying clinic session for the entire team. “Our clinics are working hard to enable staff to take on additional responsibilities that give us, the providers, more time to spend on helping the patient,” says Sholar.
If you haven’t been to the clinic recently, the next time you come in you can expect the nurse, MA or CNA to get the following information from you:
*Identify the reason for the visit and help you set the visit agenda
*Update medications
*Update past medical, family and social history
*Provide necessary immunizations
*Arrange for preventive services
“Having the nursing staff conduct these activities will enable yourprovider to spend more time directly interacting with you and your family,” explains Sholar.
“Our hope is that the new processes will ensure that patients understand and remember their discharge instructions, leading to improved outcomes for the patient,” says Sholar.
If you have any questions about the new processes, please feel free to ask you nurse or provider at your next visit.
