finishes 4th overall
The Prairie girls crosscountry team placed third behind Deary and Potlatch at the Troy Invitational Meet held Thursday, Oct. 12. Ciara Chaffee placed 4th overall in a time of 24:02.0. Second best finisher was Kendra Duclos in 16th in 26:05.1. Jessie Sonnen placed 18th in 26:12.7 with Kerri Villamor in 28th in 28:12.6. Molly Schwartz was 31st in 30:23.1 with Sarah Ross in 33rd at 31:38.1 and Sierah Poxleitner in 34th at 31:43.5. Several other runners did not compete due to injury or illness. The boys team placed 6th as a team with Anthony Karel being the top finisher in 29th place at 22:40.1. Right behind Karel was James Villamor in 30th at 22:42.5 and Justin Lockett in 31st at 22:55.3. William Hooper placed 39th in 23:48.6 with Daniel Megale in 46th in 27:04.1 and Tyler Leanard in 47th at 34:08.8. According to coach Glenn Poxleitner, “A very wet and also Slick course. We rested 5 of our girls team and told the rest to run cautiously in the poor conditions. “We are hoping for a sunny and nice day for districts as our girls team challenges for the district title and our boys see if they can move up enough to slip into one of the team positions going to state. Both boys and girls have some athletes who could or should qualify for the state meet as individuals. Its gut check time for the Prairie XC team. We would like to thank the Prairie Schools and community for your continued support of this new and challenging sport.” District will take place Thursday, Oct. 19 at Lewiston, the same course as the meet Oct. 7, up near Ziggy’s in the Orchards. The girls race will be at 3 p.m. and the boys at 3:30.
