Chaffee earns state medal
Ciara Chaffee finished in 11th place, earning a state medal, at the State Crosscountry meet Saturday, Oct. 28 at Eagle Island State Park.
As a team Prairie finished 6th out of 8 teams competing.
Chaffee’s finish is the best ever for a Prairie crosscountry runner and only the second medal earned. Her time was 21:38.04.
Maria Schmidt was Prairie’s second best finisher in 38th with a time of 23:50.16.
Kendra Duclos was 45th in 24:11.31.
Jessie Sonnen was 49th in 24:38.02.
Kerri Villamor with 52nd in 24:46.29.
Kyleigh Duclos was 54th in 25:02.60.
Jayce Rambo was 58th in 25:33.36.
There were 67 runners entered.
Liberty Charter had the first place team with defending state champion Deary finishing second.
The first place finisher was freshman Natalya Babcock of Butte County with a time of 19:27.18. District 2 champion Melanie Gianopulos of C.V. finished third.
