Community Guardians seek volunteers
The Idaho County Board of Community Guardians has been in service since early 2016. The board was re-established to protect the most vulnerable adult residents of the county from abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation.  Adults that are residents of this county that may be at risk or in danger of harm now have a system in place that can help ensure their well-being.    We now have 9 board members and two volunteer guardians.  We currently meet once a month on the third Thursday of the month at the Idaho County Court House.
With the help of the county attorney, Kirk Macgregor, and the Idaho County Commissioners, the Board of Community Guardians can now help assist in providing guardianship for individuals that are deemed legally incapacitated by the court with limited/no income and no family/friends that are able/willing to help make decisions for their well-being. Anyone who thinks they know an individual who may be at risk, can make a referral for guardianship.  They can print the form from the Idaho County website at idahocounty.org/commissioners/board-of-community-guardians.  They can submit by mail or by email.  If you have questions, you can call 208-983-2751 or email at IdcntyBOCG@gmail.com.  Our mailing address is 320 West Main Street, Rm 5, Grangeville, ID 83530.
We are still looking for more volunteer guardians. A guardian can facilitate the process for the incapacitated individual to meet their personal and financial needs. We would like representation from all parts of the county. If you would like to help the people of this county, this would be a wonderful opportunity to help our most vulnerable citizens.  For more information, you can email us at IdcntyBOCG@gmail.com.
