3 wrestlers place third at Potlatch
Three Prairie wrestlers wound up with third place medals at the Dick Griswold Wrestling Tournament at Potlatch Saturday, Dec. 2.
Dalton Ross wound up tied for third at 113 lbs. when his opponent in the third place match maxed out on the number of matches allowed.
Lane Remacle finished third in a round-robin bracket at 144 lbs.,
Jace Perrin finished third in the 195 lbs. bracket.
Full results:
113 lbs.-Ross won by second period pin over Logan Cerrick of Post Falls. In the semifinal match Ross lost by pin to eventual winner Nolan Burrill of Colfax in the first period. In the consolation semifinal Ross won by a 12-0 decision over teammate Sierra McWilliams. Ross was to wrestle Johnnie Raymond of C.V. in the third place match but Raymond had already wrestled 5 times.
McWilliams lost a 0-7 decision in her first match to Nate Bohl of Post Falls, who wound up taking second. In the consolation bracket she won a 14-11 decision over Caleb Barger of Grangeville before losing to Ross.
132 lbs.-Logan Wimer wrestled at 132 lbs. and lost his opening match by first round pin to Gabe Prather. He then was eliminated by Ryan Cox of Grangeville who won by pin in the first period.
They had so many at 145 lbs. that they broke it into two brackets at 144 and 145.
144 lbs.-Remacle lost his first round match to John Hammond of Pomeroy by first period pin. In his second match he won by pin in 1:30 over Logan Leeling of Wallace. In his third match had won by pin in the second period over Blake Nemeth of St. Maries. In his final match he lost by pin to Nathan Martinez of Orofino. He finished third out of 5 wrestlers in the bracket.
145 lbs.-William Hooper lost by pin in the first period to Shaun Anderson of St. Maries. In his second match he lost by first period pin to Jacob Glenn of Post Falls and was eliminated.
162 lbs.-Tristin Staneart, like Remacle, was in a 5 wrestler round robin. He lost his first match by first period pin to DeetsBabbit of McCall. He lost his second match by first period pin to Blake Bodey of Colfax. In his third match he lost by first period pin to Michael Esplin of McCall. In his final match he lost by first period pin to Damon Shaw of Lewiston.
195 lbs.-Perrin won his opening match by first period pin over Delbert Lambson of St. Maries. In his second match he lost by 6-9 decision to George Bolling of Orofino. In the consolation semifinal he won by first period pin over Isaiah Laguna of Post Falls. In the third place match he won by first period pin over Scott Carr of McCall.
As a team Prairie placed 12th at the tournament.
