Whatsoever Things Are True

Give me a Christmas present I can use!
Last year at this time, we looked at some Christmas Absolutes, as compiled by Phil Jones of Tenn. This year, I would like to make them applicable in Your life, because the meat of the Word, is Always Application. I have pondered how I can give you applicable Truth. The problem is, many argue over truth. Some deny the Truth. Most say they have an exclusive handle on the truth, and anyone who is earnestly looking in our day and age, can be pulled in several directions. Jesus said “I Am the Truth”.   Four things you need to know about Truth:
1)   Truth is Discovered, not Created.
2)   Truth is Consistent.
3)   Truth Can be Known - “and ye shall know the truth” John 8:32.
and 4)   Truth Brings Freedom - “and the Truth shall make you”
So what’s the problem?   Well, a recent poll concluded that 2 out of 3 adults, and 4 out of 5 youth say there are no absolute truths. Nugget: This only applies to morality and religion. Can you imagine if you were on a plane and the pilot says “According to the manual, we only have enough fuel to get 3/4 of the way to our destination. But I don’t believe this absolutely, so here we go”. Another problem (and this one hurts) is the source of our truth. Another poll asked: “Who are the most trusted professionals, by vocation?”.   Pastors, Preachers, Priests ranked #7, behind nurses, teachers, and #1, your pharmacist. Much of this is our fault because when a world is crying out for something different, we often act just like the rest of the world.  Our Bad. Still, there is an Absolute Truth, and I would like to share it with you today.
A Christmas Absolute. Ready?
Jesus is God. When He was here, He was fully God, and fully man. I cannot explain this, any more than I can explain the Trinity, but I can show you where they are in Scripture. The Bible says He eternally existed. Colossians 1 says he was before all things, and that by Him, were all things created. At Christmas we sing “veiled in flesh the God-head see”.  John 1 calls Him "the Word" (capitalized because it is one of His names), and in vs 14, “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us”.   In Hebrews ch 1, there were some calling Him an angel, and some worshiping angels. The author (probably Paul) says Jesus is superior to all the angels, and then in vs 8, quoting the Old Test, God calls Jesus God!  He, Jesus is exclusive with this. He shares it with no one, angel or man. Is He serious about it?  What is the first commandment? If this is all true, (and it is by virtue of the fact that it is in-ambiguous Scripture - see also Colo. 1:16-17) What a Christmas Gift. Ponder this. God Bless, and Merry Christmas.  BTW, Emmanuel is translated - God with us.
