Lady Pirates win at Asotin
The Prairie Lady Pirates finished 2017 still unbeaten at 11-0 after winning 64-23 at Asotin Tuesday, Dec. 19.Theresa Wemhoff shoots as Sydney Bruner battles for rebounding position.
Prairie scored the first 11 points in the game with Jordyn Higgins opening the scoring after a steal. Leah Higgins followed with a steal and Jordyn scored again after a steal by Sydney Bruner. India Peery sank a 3-pointer and Josie Peery scored 2 free throws to make it 11-0.
Asotin scored a 3-pointer to get on the scoreboard but Jordyn Higgins matched that with a 3. 
A buzzer beating 3 from about 25 feet out by Asotin closed out the first quarter with Prairie up 14-6.
Leah Higgins scored a putback to open the second quarter and Asotin answered to get the margin back to 8 points. Prairie then finished the half with 15 straight points and a 19-1 run overall.
Leah Higgins had 8 of those 19 points with Theresa Wemhoff, Alexis Hiler, India Peery, Josie Peery and Jordyn Higgins each scoring 2 while Bruner had the remaining point as Prairie led 35-9 at the half.
India Peery and Jordyn Higgins dominated the third quarter scoring for Prairie as India had 10 points and Jordyn 6 with each sinking another 3-pointer.
Wemhoff and Madison Shears each added 2 points. For the freshman Shears it was her first ever varsity points after being called up when Angela Wemhoff was injured.
Prairie led 55-23 after 3 quarters.
Washington has a 40 point run clock rule and Prairie hit that with 2:58 to go when Kodie Tidwell scored after a steal to make it 63-23. 
Prairie outscored Asotin 9-0 in the final period.
India Peery led the scoring with 17 points with Jordyn Higgins scoring 15 and Leah Higgins 12. Josie Peery added 8, Theresa Wemhoff 4, Tidwell 3, Hiler and Shears 2 each and Bruner 1.
Prairie dominated the boards 52-24 with Josie Peery pulling down 16 rebounds and India Peery adding 9.
Josie Peery and Leah Higgins each had 6 steals while Wemhoff had 5 assists and Leah Higgins had 3.
Prairie was 26 for 61 from the field, 43%, and 8 for 23 at the line, 35%. Asotin was 9 for 28 from the field, 32%, and 2 for 13 at the line, 15%.
Prairie finishes the 2017 portion of their season at 11-0 overall and 6-0 in league play.
The JV team won just as easily, 54-18, and also finished the 2017 portion of their season unbeaten.
