takes 2nd at St. Maries
Jace Perrin took 2nd at 182 lbs. and Sierra McWilliams placed 4th at 106 lbs. at the Chad E. Ross Memorial Tournament at St. Maries Friday and Saturday, Jan. 5-6. This is the first Chad E. Ross Memorial tou  rnament
and is named after a St. Maries wrestler who was killed several years ago
in a highway accident. Chad Ross was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ross
of Fernwood and a grandson of the late Coop Ross of Cottonwood. Prairie
wrestler Dalton Ross would be a second cousin.
As a team Prairie placed 9th with 42 points. At 182 lbs. Perrin received a first round bye then won by pin over Nick Hardin of Orofino in 3:29. In the semifinals he won by pin over Chad Dickerson of St. Maries in 5:56, just 4 seconds before the match would’ve ended. In the championship match he lost a 1-5 decision to Peyton Whipple of C.V. At 106 lbs. McWilliams received a first round bye. She lost by pin to Myles Hanson of St. Maries in 4:38 in the second round. In the consolation bracket she received 2 byes before meeting Reed Crossley of McCall-Donnelly. She won by pin in 4:24 and wound up facing Hanson again in the 3rd place match. She avoided the pin this time but lost a major decision 4-13 to finish fourth. At 113 lbs. Dalton Ross received a first round bye then lost 6-17 to Caleb Barger of Grangeville. In the consolation bracket he received 2 byes before wrestling Johnnie Raymond of C.V. Raymond won 6-12. At 138 lbs. Lane Remacle won by pin in 1:43 in the first round over Shelby McIntosh of Lakeland. In the quarterfinals he lost by pin in 1:19 to #1 seeded Keegan Sweeney of Lewiston. In the consolation bracket he won by pin in 4:34 over Brittney Benavidez of Grangeville then lost by pin to Blaise Wright of Lakeland in 2:10. At 145 lbs. William Hooper lost by pin in the first round to Jacob Strahan in 0:58. In the consolation round he received a bye then lost by pin to Colin Glass of Lakeland in 3:30.
