District tournament starts next week
The girls District 2 basketball tournaments get underway with play-in games next Monday, Jan. 29. In both Division 1 and Division 2 there will be a loser out play-in game between the #6 and #7 seeds at the #6 seed’s home gym at 7 p.m. It appears Timberline will be playing at Highland in Division 2 while Troy and C.V. will be playing in Division 1 with the site to be determined. In Division 1 Prairie will start play on Wednesday, Jan. 31 as either the #1 or #2 seed. The #1 seed plays at 6 p.m. and the #2 seed at 7:30 with both games at the LCSC Activity Center. The District championship game will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6. Loser out games will be played Thursday, Feb. 1 and Tuesday, Feb. 6 prior to the championship game. The championship game loser will play the winner of the Tuesday loser-out game on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 for second place. The winner of that game will play Wallace on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Post Falls High School at 1 p.m. for a berth at State. In Division 2, Summit appears to be locked in as the #5 seed and will play either Deary or Kendrick at their gym on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. in a loser out game. The winner will play Thursday, Feb. 1, against either Nezperce or Logos at either 6 or 7:30 p.m. at the LCSC Activity Center. The Division 2 championship game is set for Monday, Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. Thursday’s two losers play at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5. The championship game loser plays the loser-out survivor on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. for second place at District. That winner will play a team from southern Idaho at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10 at Grangeville.
