Mr. Rehder's "Some, Terrific, Radiant" Class Finishes Charlotte's Web. For Christmas, Mr. Rehder purchased each of his 3rd and 4th grade students their very own copy of the book Charlotte's Web by E.B. White. After finishing the book, the class celebrated with a County Fair in their classroom. Snow cones, elephant ears, popcorn, and candy were redeemable for tickets earned from their final book exam grade. The class learned from Charlotte that you can be both a good friend and a good writer. Photo provided by Summit Academy.

Summit places third at District
The Summit Lady Patriots had a chance to match what their volleyball team accomplished and make it to a state play-in game but came up short against Deary, 28-34, in the second place game at District.Taylor Lustig in the second place game against Deary.
For the 5th seeded Patriots they were still able to finish District 2 positions higher than their seed.
Summit took a 3-0 lead in the game on a free throw by Erin Chmelik and a putback by Taylor Lustig but then gave up 6 straight points to Deary, 4 of them at the free throw line.
Summit responded with their own 7-0 run to retake the lead. Chmelik scored a putback, Lexi Currier sank a 3 and Lauren Stubbers scored inside for a 10-6 lead. Deary scored to make it 10-8 after 1 quarter.
A free throw by Stubbers and a basket by Claira Osborne made it 13-8 with 5:07 left in the half.
Summit then struggled to even get a shot off against Deary’s defense and the Mustangs scored 9 straight points for a 13-17 lead.
A free throw by Chmelik broke the scoring drought but Deary scored a basket to make it 14-19 at the half.
Summit mustered just 3 points in the third quarter, all by Stubbers, but still trailed only 17-23 after 3 quarters as their defense held Deary to just 4 points.
Deary extended the lead to 8 early in the fourth quarter but a 3-pointer by Osborne cut the lead to 5. A steal by Lustig led to a 2-point basket by Osborne to pull the Patriots within 3 at 22-25 with 4:20 to play.
Deary pushed the lead back to 6 at 24-30 with 2:30 to play but Summit answered with a basket by Currier and another by Stubbers to pull within 2 at 28-30 with 1:08 to play.
At that point Summit just seemed to run out of gas. Deary worked the clock and made free throws and Summit would either turn the ball over or miss shots in the final minute as Deary held on for the win.
Summit also dealt with major foul trouble throughout the second half. Lustig wound up fouling out and Chmelik got her fourth foul in the first half but was able to play much of the second half without fouling out. Osborne picked up her fourth midway through the third quarter. Currier ended the game with 4 fouls but picked up most of those in the fourth quarter when Summit was sending Deary to the line to try and get the ball back.
Stubbers scored 8 points to lead the Patriots in scoring with Osborne adding 7. Currier scored 5, Chmelik 4 and Lustig and Jessie Sonnen 2 each.
Deary had a 27-34 rebounding edge. Summit was led by Osborne with 10 with Stubbers and Chmelik adding 6 each.
Stubbers had 4 steals and Lustig had 4 assists.
Summit was 9 for 39 from the field, 23%, and 4 for 10 at the line, 40%. Deary was 9 for 34 from the field, 26%, and 15 for 25 at the line, 60%.
Summit ends their season with an 8-8 record.
