Whatsoever Things Are True

Certainly, one of the greatest understatements in the Bible (not that I place myself in a position to critique God's Word, but rather that our language is not sufficient to do some things justice), is 1st John 4:4; where we read: "...:because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world." The world thinks this is a close struggle, and it is not.
I heard Rush Limbaugh last week ascribe Satan the authority described in Luke 12:4-5 which says: "And I say unto you my friends, be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him." Not to split hairs, but this is Jesus speaking of Himself as Satan hath not this power - James 4:12. Although Satan is often overlooked, and his power is indeed great, this is not in his arsenal  - "For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:"   Every year at this time, the National Pornagraphi / -] er Geographic, the History Channel, the Discovery Channel and their ilk, pump out heresy under the guise of education with titles something like this: Nearly all civilizations espouse a great celestial struggle in the which God and Satan are fighting tooth and nail for the future of mankind, and the battle is close. In fact (Hollywood suggests), If not for the intervention of Keanu Reeves or Arnold Schwarzenegger, our very destruction  hangs in the balance.
Let's turn the Spiritual Switch.   John 1 as well as Colo. 1 tells us that Jesus was in the beginning and everything that was made (all of creation including you, me, Satan, the stars the earth and all realms), was made by and for Jesus, and that by Him, all things consist - or are held together.  This shouldn't be, but evidently is controversial. So what does this look like in application?  Just a few thoughts. When Jesus was at His weakest point in history, (fully man) He encountered a demonically possessed man who had a "legion" of demons in him. This man had been terrorizing neighboring towns and could not be contained.
The demon hoard saw Jesus and his entourage approaching in a boat and said in his heart: "New meat, I'll go down and have my way with them".  What happened?  This legion of demons recognized Jesus from afar and began to - wait for it - plead for mercy. Doesn't sound close to me.  When Jesus comes back for the Big Final Conflict you have heard so much about, the same voice which spoke the worlds into existence, will Speak Satan and his hosts into the Lake of Fire.  Doesn't sound close to me. If you have Savingly Believed on His name, if He is your Lord and thereby Savior, when you say: "Greater is He that is in me than He that is in the world", you can't spread your arms wide enough.  Halleluiah, what a Savior.
