Spencer in 110 hurdles, 3 girls relays finish first at Regional Meet
Sean Spencer in the 110 meter hurdles and 3 of the 4 girls relay teams placed first in their events at the Regional Track Meet held at Lapwai Friday and Saturday, May 11-12.Sean Spencer had a good lead by the third hurdle as he went on to win the 110 hurdles race and qualify for state.
Spencer has a personal best time of 16.49 to win the 110 meter hurdles. He also qualified for state by placing 2nd in the 300 hurdles in 42.41 and placed 9th in the 1600 in 5:09.53.
The girls 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relays all finished in first place. Theresa Wemhoff, Ellea Uhlenkott, Jordyn Higgins and Laney Uhlenkott won the 4x100 in 53.24. Wemhoff, Sierra McWilliams, Higgins and Laney Uhlenkott won the 4x200 in 1:52.01. Wemhoff, Higgins, Ciara Chaffee and Laney Uhlenkott won the 4x400 in 4:21.95.
The girls medley relay also qualified for state with Ellea Uhlenkott, Higgins, Laney Uhlenkott and Wemhoff taking 2nd in 1:59.20.
Also qualifying for state in individual events for the girls were Ellea Uhlenkott who placed third in the 300 hurdles in 52.41; McWilliams, who was 2nd in the 3200 in 12:38.67, 3rd in the 800 in 2:32.75 and 5th in the 1600 in 5:50.72; Chaffee, who was 3rd in the 1600 in 5:48.50 and 4th in the 800 in 2:34.35; and Koleen Hasselstrom, who was third in the discus at 98’10” and5th in the shot put at 30’5”.
Also qualifying for state for the boys was the medley relay team of Caleb McGee, Carson Schmidt, Cole martin and Spencer. They finished 2nd in a time of 3:52.01. Spencer was able to hold off Troy’s Josh Lay in the 800 anchor leg to give Prairie the second spot. Lay won the open 800, an event Spencer didn’t compete in.
Also qualifying in individual events for the boys were Schmidt in the discus with a 3rd place finish at 132’8”, a personal best; Damian Forsmann in the high jump. He placed 6th at 5’8” but filled an at-large spot as normally only the top 5 go to state; and Cole Martin, who ran a qualifying time of 12.0 in the prelims which got him to state despite his 7th place finish at 12.28 in the final.
The State meet takes place this Friday and Saturday, May 18-19, at Middleton High School.
Other girls results:
Ellea Uhlenkott placed 7th in the long jump at 13’11”.
CiCi Chavez was 8th in the 400 prelims in 1:08.81 but did not run in the finals. She also placed 13th in the 200 in 30.86 and 24th in the 100 in 15.04.
Kristyna Krogh was 9th in the 800 in 2:54.43, 13th in the 3200 in 14:43.25 and 14th in the 1600 in 6:41.90.
Maria Schmidt was 14th in the 400 in 1:16.00, 26th in the 100 in 15.18 and 26th in the 200 in 33.57.
Emma Gehring was 15th in the shot put at 27’2½”.
Trista Latimer was 35th in the shot put at 19’10½”.
As a team the girls placed 2nd with 85 points.

Derik Shears was 9th in the high jump at 5’4”, 22nd in the long jump at 15’10½” and 32nd in the 200 in 27.78.
Tucker Hibbard was 10th in the discus at 111’0” and 30th in the shot put at 31’4½”.
Martin was 11th in the long jump at 17’10”.
Matt Coppernoll was 11th in the discus at 110’11” and 32nd in the shot at 30’8½”.
Hayden Uhlenkott was 13th in the discus at 110’1” and 27th in the shot at 33’½”.
John Gehring was 12th in the high jump at 5’0” and 26th in the discus at 87’10”.
James Villamor was 12th in the 3200 in 11:3772, 15th in the 800 in 2:40.20 and 15th in the 1600 in 5:26.67.
Justin Lockett was 17th in the 3200 in 12:48.18, 22nd in the 1600 in 5:41.53 and 29th in the 400 in 1:04.92.
Anthony Karel was 23rd in the shot at 34’0” and 40th in the discus at 73’6”.
Reid Uptmor was 25th in the 400 in 1:04.34, 27th in the discus at 87’9” and 33rd in the shot at 29’8”.
Zac Arnzen was 26th in the 400 in 1:04.36 and 40th in the 100 in 14.01.
McGee was 28th in the long jump at 14’6”.
Tyler Wemhoff was 34th in the 400 in 1:07.39 and 39th in the 100 in 13.96.
Ryan Arnzen was 38th in the discus at 77’3” and 39th in the shot at 27’5¾”.
Daniel Megale was 40th in the 200 in 29.38 and 44th in the 100 in 14.29.
Wes Munger was 42nd in the long jump at 10’½”, 48th in the 200 in 32.74 and 51st in the 100 in 15.64.
The 4x100 relay team of Zac Arnzen, Gehring, Megale and Wemhoff placed 9th in 54.17.
The 4x200 relay team of Zac Arnzen, Shears, McGee and Wemhoff was 6th in 1:47.83 and a second 4x200 team of Gehring, Megale, Uhlenkott and Uptmor placed 8th in 1:52.14.
As a team the boys placed 7th with 42 points.

State Track Schedule
The State Track Meet for the 1A division will be held at Middleton High School in conjunction with the 2A and 3A meets on Friday and Saturday, May 18-19.
The first events Prairie is involved in will be the girls 3200 with Sierra McWilliams. 3200 finals start with the 3A girls at 9:30 a.m. The 1A girls race will be the 5th of 6 races. McWilliams had the fifth best regional meet time.
Field events get underway at noon for Prairie with Koleen Hasselstrom in the 1A girls discus and Damian Forsmann in the 1A boys high jump.
At 3 p.m. Hasselstrom will compete in the 1A girls discus.
At 3:30 p.m. the running preliminaries start with the girls 100 meter hurdles. Once those 3 races are done the boys 110 meter hurdles prelims will start. Sean Spencer will be in the second of 3 preliminary heats for the 1A boys.
Those are followed by the 100 meter dash prelims. Cole Martin will be in the 2nd of 3 boys heats.
Next are the 400 meter prelims followed by the 300 hurdles prelims. Ellea Uhlenkott will be in the second of two hears for the 1A girls while Spencer will be in the second of 2 heats for the 1A boys.
After the 200 prelims will be the medley relay finals. Order will be 2A/3A/1A girls then the 2A/3A/1A boys. The girls and boys both drew lane 1. The girls have the 3rd best time from District while the boys have the 7th best time from District.
On Saturday at 9 a.m. Carson Schmidt will be competing in the 1A boys discus.
The Parade of Athletes is set for 11:30 a.m.
At 12:30 the running finals will start with the girls 100 meter hurdles, boys 110 meter hurdles, 4x200 relays (The Prairie girls are in lane 3 and has the best time coming in), 100 meter dash, 800 meter run (with McWilliams and Ciara Chaffee in the girls race), 4x100 meter relay (Prairie’s girls are in lane 5 and have 3rd best time coming in) and 400 meter dash. After a break the 300 hurdles finals will start followed by the 200, the 1600 (with McWilliams and Chaffee) and the 4x400 relay ends it. (Prairie’s girls are in lane 3 with the 4th best time coming in.)
